    Hotter 'N Hell 100!

    Hi All!
This is my first post - I've been 'lurking' for a few weeks - Sure lovin' all the advice and commraderie with everyone here.

I have searched the forums and have not seen anyone post about the upcoming HHH in Witchita Falls, TX. www.hh100.org I am looking to do the 100K ride. Are there any of you out there that are planning to do this ride? I expect I will avg. about 15mph - so not planning on blowing it out and going real fast. There are alot of rolling hills, so the avg might not even be that fast. I did this ride in 2002 and was very surprised to find out how many hills there actually were way out in the boonies in TX. I thought TX was pretty much flat! Evidently...if its not a mountain...it's considered 'flat'. I'm from Louisiana, so I see my share of rolling hills, but for the most part we have flats here. My hubby is riding the 100 miler so we will part at the 25mi mark where the two routes split. He had someone contact him from the HHH forum about 2 months ago and we are going to meet up with him the night before and get introductions out of the way and plan on a meeting spot for the next morning. The thought of trudging thru the 100+ degree heat (if we are lucky it'll be only 100! it was 105 in '02) by myself for the remainder of the 62 or so miles is not a very pleasant thought. Anyone interested in meeting up?

Heh - I thought it was 100 miles...but either way plan to do it! It will be my last hurrah before I start back to school on the following Monday to finish out my last year!

Getting the training time in with summer finals is going to be tough, but I aim to do it!

I don't have a place to stay out there, we will probably get up early and drive since we live about an hour and 45 min away - or maybe we will beg borrow rent or steal a camper!

Actually, there are several flavors of rides that day - 10 mile, 25 mi, 50 mi, 100 k and 100 miles....something for everyone pretty much.

I think I'm going to save this ride for next year as I'm just not ready. Maybe we can have a TE gathering next year!

My husband and I will be there. I'm not sure how far we'll ride yet. Last year we rode the 50 miler. This year we were going to ride the full 100 miles. I had surgery on July 6 and now have pneumonia so I am not sure how recovered I'll be by then. We could do anywhere from 25 miles to the 100K but I am definitely not doing the 100 miles.

If we gather, can we do it for a nicer ride?

I'm sure Jo will want to be at the Ride for the Roses this year...
