When we got our tandem, I was fitted at the LBS with some Shimano cycling shoes. They were the best fitting shoe they had. I had no idea how a cycling shoe should fit, so I just went with it. I have since learned that they should be pretty snug around your foot, with a "little" bit of extra length beyond the big toe. I have very long (size 10) but very narrow feet. The Shimano's I have been wearing were not nearly narrow enough. Every time I pull the pedal up, my foot shifts in my shoe. My DH said my foot "should be one with the shoe"! I wish he would have told me that when I was trying them on! He said he was just trusting the supposedly competent sales guy. I think the guy gave me the best fit he could with what they had and might not have realized how much room I had around my foot. You'd think I would have known better after replacing my snowbaording boots for the exact same reason!

Anyways, I have learned that Sidi's are about the best fit most anyone can get because they sort of mold around your foot. They are especially great for a narrow foot. After much research, and a million phone calls to bike shops trying to locate my size, I finally ordered them through my LBS. A few days later they called and informed me that Sidi does not make a women's shoe in my length (44). I, therefore, had them order the men's narrow, which are equally difficult to find locally.

Well, they finally arrived and they are DIVINE!!!!!!!! Great fit. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. I could have warn them today on my ride if DH had remembered to tell me they actually arrived YESTERDAY!

Oh well. Tomorrow they'll get their test run. They're Sidi Genius 5's, by the way. Hubs has two pairs of the same shoe. One for his road bike and one for his MTB.
