I'm so sorry.
Oh, Pam! I am so sorry. Lloyd was a handsome dog.

So very sorry, Pam. At least Lloyd died peacefully without having to suffer through a lot of medical interventions, and you had a good long time with him. I'm sure you have lots of great memories!
Take good care...

Awww, Lloyd looks like such a cool boy. So sorry that he is gone, but glad he went peacefully. It's never easy to lose a pet. I lost my British Shorthair unexpectedly a few months ago. It sure stings :(
Here is my new Brit, Tiger. He does this EVERYWHERE. It's the Tiger pose.

A friend of mine, who always kids around about Toby being her boyfriend, retired recently. The hospital, where she's been a nurse forever, threw her a small retirement party. I decided that her boyfriend just HAD to make an appearance. So I dolled him up for the occasion. Here he is, ready to wish his girlfriend a happy retirement.

7rider that photo reminds me of the days when I had cats. All furniture belonged to the cats.

Roadiegal, did the dog forgive you for this indignity? Or did he enjoy the attention?

Too cute, Molliewog!!!
Has anybody else watched the series on Animal Planet called Too Cute? They've featured some cat breeds, including the British Shorthair--that I wasn't all that familiar with. There are just way too many adorable cats out there. It makes me want to become the Crazy Cat Lady! Anyway, the show is, as the title suggest, too cute. I'm embarrassed to say that DH and I have gotten in the habit of watching on Saturay nights--if that tells you anything about our social life. :p

Thanks Owlie and indysteel! I'll have to see if I can find that episode with the Brits.
British Shorthairs are awesome cats. I fell in love with their look and personality. Tiger is my second. I unexpectedly lost my girl in my profile pic. She was a top quality show cat. Thanks to her, I went to my first cat show and have become a crazy cat lady :D
I got both of my Brits as adults. While I do advocate shelter pets (and have another cat from a shelter), I have enjoyed having "retired" pedigreed cats. If you like a particular breed, this is a great way to get a quality cat with a known history at a much lower price.
For those of you who do like cats, I do have a regular crazy cat lady blog at http://www.houseofmeow.com
Lol, it's how I keep myself busy during this snowy season as I eagerly await reuniting with my road bike.

7Rider, your cats are lovely. They look like they're waiting to be served lunch.
PamNY, Toby was OK with the tie, but he hated the hat. And, of course, he loved the attention he got from everyone.
We record Too Cute and watch it with breakfast. Recently they had collie puppies on the show. We were so thrilled that the parents were smoothies. One of my favorite lines from the show was "Collies have one of the largest vocabularies of all breeds". LOL So true.

Thanks for the kind comments about the passing of my bulldog Lloyd. It helps a lot to connect with people who understand.
Wanted to share a gift I received -- a portrait of Lloyd painted on a glass sun catcher:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mjharman/8450888933/
The gift was from the Hornby eagles webcam chat -- some I know in person, some are online friends. The artist was among the founders of the Hornby Eagles Project Society, which sponsors the cam.

1605216051here are my two kitties, Tux the maine coon- all 25 pounds of him, and Miss Ike who I rescued from a parking garage at the hospital the day after hurricane Ike. I mistook her for a flat tire on my car parked in the dim, nothing but emergency lights shadow, hence the name.

All three of the pets in the same room. :) The horse-dog is really just waiting on her food, not caring at all about the cats. The boy cat, who is more than twice the size of the little girl cat, is pretty much hiding behind her. And she doesn't really care about the dog. No one is traumatized anymore. Still a bit to go I think for the boy to feel comfortable. But he sits in the living room with me and watches the dog, even went right near here to get to his favorite toy. All and all, I think it's going pretty well.

Willow is too cute, Trek Chick! I grew up with terriers, and they remain my favorite type of dog. They just have SO much personality.
Has anybody seen Best in Show? It's one of my favorite movies. One of the scenes that runs through my mind any time terriers come up in conversation is the one where they sing "God Loves a Terrier." It cracks me up every time.

Pippi the monkey in the kitchen is still going strong at 9 and Max with the brick, my dearest, who I lost last fall at the age of 14. Both rescues at different times - every day with them is one of amazement that anyone would give these amazing dogs up.

Paris is the King of Lounge.
Here is is, reclining on our bed.
If there is fleece - he is happy.
He loves to lay on his back (both cats do - love getting their bellies rubbed - is that weird with cats?). My DH said he was like this for a good 15 minutes.

It's been 2 years since we adopted our munchkin. He grew from 18 lbs at 8 months to a little over 30 lbs. The vet thinks he must have been malnourished in his young years. He's healthy, happy and generally well adjusted (unless you're a hispanic man with a hat or a hoody, then he's going to freak out). We've done obedience with him and 2 agility classes and he's a super star on the agility course. He's also a great trail buddy on the bikes. Thanks to all of you who gave us advice when we first got him. It was invaluable.

I adopted the smallest one 2 years ago from a shelter about 160 miles south of me (near Jacksonville, FL). He is about 9 years old now. He was underweight and had been exposed to long term neglect; 17.5 lbs now, was only 12.5 - 13 when I got him. Bunch of other little things, too. He's doing great now, though.
That is awesome! What a lovely pack you have. I would love to have more, but with our travels, one is all we can manage. And Paisley is not a fan of most other dogs, unfortunately. When our traveling days are over I hope to have a few rescues, foster, etc. That's a ways off, though...still have plenty of wanderlust!

This is my Great Pyrenees, Baxter. I had a pyrenees that died in 2001 at the age of 11 and have wanted another one ever since. My husband bought him for me as a present for getting thru breast cancer surgery and radiation. He's simply adorable and is a typical Pyr. I haven't had a puppy in a LONG time so getting up a few times a night for pee trips is fun. Right now he weighs about 15 lbs and I won't be able to carry him outside for too many more weeks.

Kernowcyclist,
Nice of you to save greyhounds. I've known a few people in rescuing and those are great dogs they had.
Raindrop,
I love this breed. If it was not for their sizes, I may have one or 2.... that is why I probably ended up with American Eskimos....they are white, and small. :) I can still hold them in my arms as the heavier one is at 18# I think..... used to weigh more but getting older and lighter.
Thanks for sharing.

Having young kittens in the house is awesome, but sometimes cleaning up after them makes me feel myself a bit irritable. Anyway, I LOVE them! Now I can't even imagine my life without them..
A week ago I have bought a new cat door for them! And you know, this door has really changed my life for the better ;D
If you are trying to create an isolated space for your animals, this is what you need.
