Any TE riders with a fractured radius?

I was ambushed by my monster-size 4 1/2 month old Newfie pup at the end of July. Surgery 7-29-15 to have plate/screws placed to my left wrist. My riding miles were adding up so well and I was getting strong. Now I'm limited to sitting upright on my trainer and walking. (Oh, yah, physical therapy hand exercises too.)
Anyone else wading through this? If so . . . I am so sorry. I've lost my summer and at age 55, I won't bounce back so quickly. I'm in a Velcro splint now thank goodness. Didn't have to have a full cast. My surgeon rides and he knows I want back on my bike ASAP.

My husband broke his radius, about 12 years ago. He was in his late 40s, and in serious good shape. In fact, he broke his other wrist too, but it was only a hairline fracture. So, screws and plates in one with a cast, and a splint on the other. He had the cast on for about 4-5 weeks, had OT, and the pins were out a couple of weeks later. He resumed riding after 6-8 weeks? It was fall by then, and it was very painful for him, but he did it.

Thanks for the posts. It has been 8 weeks since I broke my left wrist (radius). I'm back on my bike and am pain free which makes me very happy. I had expected wrist pain once I started riding again. I'm nearing the end of the occupational therapy sessions and will have my life back very soon. I used my trainer 30 minutes a day for about a month and it paid off in a quick transfer back to road cycling. This was hard to go through and I feel that I lost my summer. The ride today felt really good. Hill routes will have to wait till next year, but I have hope that my fitness will come through.

I'm glad you're healing well and back on the bike. I missed out on a fair amount of good cycling this spring and summer due to illness. I'm hoping to make up for it with some good rides now.
