Hello Cycle O ladies, just wondering how everyone is doing with their training? It's 6 weeks away...I've been increasing my milage every month since March.
Done a couple of Centuries and have several more planned for August.
    it's my cycling journey blog...in it's infancy

I'm riding a lot and running also. I am commuting 13 miles back and forth to work everyday and doing hills. I hate hills. I'm doing about 100 miles per weekend, and about that during the week also.

It's almost here! I recovered from a partial Achilles tear (off the bike from Dec through July!) then I spent July with walking pneumonia. So I've had about 3 weeks of riding to prepare for CO. All-time worst prep for a tour ever, so we'll be doing on our tandem. I hope we can meet up with fellow TE'ers! I'm guessing there won't be too many tandem teams-most of my kits are pink (women's club ,B4T9) . Looking forward to a beautiful week! Tokie

I can't wait! I am staying in Sisters on Friday night and then heading over to John Day probably early in the morning on Saturday just to chill and have time to doublecheck everything.

Packing tomorrow-do you guys think we'll need really warm jackets for around camp, or will layers be ok? I have a nano puff jacket, but seems like too much? (Layers like light fleece and a windbreaker?) so muggy in So Cal this week I'm looking forward to cool nights! Tokie. Oh, anyone have a suggestion for a place to stay in Portland or vicinity-we'll be there Fri night. We'll probably be too tired from 2 eight hour days of driving to enjoy Portland - just a nice place to stay where we don't need to worry about anyone breaking into our car( like they would in San Francisco-don't know about Portland though!)Tokie

oh, I didn't see this before now, but I hope you did bring some fleece. I am over here now and it's not really cold, but it is much colder than it is during the day since it's the desert.

Hi again! Cycle Oregon was so much fun! You might not be surprised to hear that my 3 weeks of training didn't work out too well for my Achilles - after the 3rd day I joined the medical sag van. My husband rode the 40 mile day solo on our tandem and I helped fix tents in disarray in Crane after the sag. The next day he rode a Trek demo bike ( big thank you to Trek- their wrench/ demo gal was very busy and helpful!) and I helped hand out chocolate milks at the finish in Seneca. The last day hubby rode the sag with me. CO is so amazingly well organized, the staff and volunteers are efficient and helpful, and the food was quite delicious! And, I was cold-at night! Our sleeping bags (rated to 55F) did not quite cut it! An official CO stadium blanket solved then problem though. We will be back-hope you all had a great time too! We visited Bend,Lava Land Park and Crater Lake on the drive home. What a beautiful state!

    To Tokie:
I did see a tandem with only 1 person 1 of the days, now I know why! Get all better. It was a great week.

Me too! I remember that. I wish we had all met up. It wasn't until the end of the week that I even thought of it. The hardest day for me was the short day - was it 46 miles? it was 97 degrees that day and not a tree in sight anywhere.

That was my hubby. We told rider services the night before when I signed up for medical sag that he was going to do that. But in the am, someone who knew better at rider services said "he's going to get pulled over!", & he was-but they let him finish the flat 40 miler. For safety reasons they don't allow solo tandem-ers. Might be sketchy on descents I suppose. Thanks- I am back to the therapy pool exercise while my Achilles settles down again. DH is now intrigued by the Cycle Greater Yellowstone ride, so that may be next year's adventure!

According to one of the medical sag drivers (who rode the Cycle Greater Yellowstone this year) the organizers are using the CO as their model for the CGY. There were glitches (like hour long waits for the showers & not enough blue rooms) but they are working hard to improve the logistics and consulting with people who have CO experience. It would be hard to put on a ride that was better organized than CO!

True, all you have to do on CO is sleep, eat and ride. I hate having to wait until February to find out where it will be next year.
