I used the Kenda Karmas last year and was very happy with their performance. They gripped well in mud, did well in sand, and rolled quick. I would highly recommend. Many people on our team tried them last year and all great results.

I just purchased a mountain bike, Giant Rainier, because I wanted lockout and disc brakes, but I think the tires are overkill for my needs. I plan to ride bike paths, state parks, gravel roads, tame trails in state parks, and the Katy Trail, (crushed limestone, some bumps). No crazy jumps or single track. No pavement either, I'm riding this strictly off road, just not crazy off road. I'd like a tire that does all of this but the ones I currently have on there are Kenda Blue Groove/Nevegal, 26x2. Huge tires with huge knobs.
Anyone have a suggestion or a favorite they can share?

I'm riding the same kind of stuff you are, Uforgot. I use the Specialized Fast Track Control and it's not too knobby and rolls great both on and off road.
Thanks for all of your suggestions! I'm off to check out the Kendas and specialized tires.
