Amish Land and Lakes 2-day tour

Check out http://www.amishlandandlakes.com/. It looks like a lot of fun, AND one can stay over in a dorm room. So riding around the Amish countryside for two days in early, lots of food, SAG support, choices of routes...what more could be asked for? Registration before July 1 is only $30, it doubles after that.

Dates August 5-7, perhaps this might be a good choice for interested Midwestern (and others) TE members? Saturday and Sunday are the main days though there are optional rides Friday evening. The topography is more gentle than southern Indiana and there are several lodging options outside of local hotels, though more spartan. I will be choosing the dorm room myself

This sounds really cool. I just wish it wasn't a four+ hour drive for me to get there.

Not that I am trying to enable or anything... but you could drive up Friday afternoon/evening and return Sunday afternoon. I haven't seen anything about a cost for the dorm room sleeping arrangement, but it couldn't be very much...

I've done this ride many times and will be doing it again this year, and it is really a lot of fun. It's one of my favorite weekend rides.

Just an FYI about the dorms - I have a couple of friends who decided to stay in the dorms one year, and after one night they were looking for a motel to stay in. I can't remember what the problem was, but they are used to staying in spartan facilities. They frequently travel and stay at youth hostels.
