I really need to stop reading this thread. Everytime I read a post, I get hungry. Some of the meals that you are eating sound sooo good. Question though - does anyone on TE ever have a glass of wine or bottle of beer in the evening to unwind? Or am I the only one?

Okay, if I'm confessing...2 glasses. Preferably red wine since it's healthy.

Here's a general healthy eating guide:

It's anyone's guess as to how all the highly processed 'foods' we Americans tend to eat would fit into these categories.

Yeah for reals!!! More like a shot of gin or jameson for me, if that counts

    8am wake
B: 2 cups of black tea with honey and soymilk. Orange mangos raisins and blueberries
L: Big Big salad with lots of veggies and 1/2 cup quinoa. 2 Corn Tortilla.
S: 1/4 chocolate bar. Shot of espresso with soymilk and sugar. Kombucha.
D: 3 slices plain french bread. Orange. Arugula salad. One belgium beer.
    DD: gin and juice!
    2am bed
No ride for the past few days. Did about 250 miles last week so I'm taking it easy this week. Do you think it matters what time you wake up and go to bed?

Getting better and back to normal:

B: 3 scrambled egg whites & no-fat cottage cheese with whole wheat English muffin
S: apple with little bit of PB
L: small skinless roasted chicken breast with a small piece of turkey sausage, steamed green beans and a few broccoli sprouts.
D: 1 slice toasted Exekial bread with a couple slices uncured turkey bacon, onion, and romaine lettuce, fresh strawberries with no-fat plain yogurt. Delightful Porter to go with it

No exercise today, sadly, but the leg probably needed a break after the insult it was given yesterday...

Gee, let's see if I can remember it all - had a long ride (for me) so ate a LOT!

B - cereal with fruit, protein powder, walnuts, almond milk; 2 c. coffee

    46 mile bike ride.
Snacks on ride - homemade oatmeal/raisin bar, Pepperidge farm gold fish, scoop of coffee ice cream w/cone at an ice cream parlor

Late lunch - salmon wrap w/lettuce, limeade, lite beer (rehydrating!)

    S - carrot/celery/spinach/oj blender drink

D - kale enchiladas, black beans w/sour cream, pile of lettuce w/salsa, chips, 1 (strong) margarita

I have tried mixing protein powder in milk for my cereal, but can't abide the taste - how do you manage it? What brand do you use?

I use 1 scoop of Trader Joe's Vanilla soy protein powder onto my cereal before I put my (vanilla almond) milk on. Curious what others do - the little bit of powder doesn't bother me at all.

B: one blueberry pancake and a slice of ham, coffee
L: veggie burger (plain, no roll), cole slaw, Israeli cous cous with cranberries/nuts
D: 2 homemade chili rellenos. quite a labor intensive process, but they were good and since the recipe was from Cooking Light, not deep fried with a side of black beans, one beer
