Way OT: Top Gear

Hey,

Any of you down under ladies watch Top Gear on SBS? I know it's not cycling but it's a cool show & rather amusing. I'm clueless on horsepower (i thought that was what horses ran on), V6, V8(something you drink), etc etc...

We're a season behind the UK though & won't get to see Hamster's crash until later in the year.

Vroomm..

Not down under, but yeah, Top Gear is pretty good. Didn't like Jeremy driving up the mountain in the landy (so much for tread lightly) but most times he's not too annoying.

I am NOT a car geek - but I luuuurve this programme

The American version just doesn't cut it, and I don't bother

But I try to never ever miss an episode of Top Gear - there is something about the brutal honesty, dry wit and British charm that makes this "must watch" telly...

We all watch the re-runs too when they are on - even my daughter who has less interest than me in cars appreciates and enjoys this show.

It's "Must view" in this house.

BF loves it. I don't really like that richard hammond guy because of that crappy science show he did a while back on ten... However the old guy is pretty funny. ^_^

They've gotten some pretty good celebrities on there for hot laps. Jaimie Oliver, and David Walliams (little britain)

I didn't know that either, we watch them from the 'puter. If we are getting the american version, what are missing out on?
Iron Chef America, now that sucks.

Agreed!!! The Japanese version is way better. Thank GOD SBS pulled the American Iron Chef Drivel off for the original to return this week.

Also a watcher of topgear (and Iron Chef when i lived in US). Best episode was when they did the winter olympics......throwing a mini off the ski jump with a rocket at the back or racing the speed skater in a jaguar (and of course loosing). good fun.

Just watched my first Top Gear tonight (our LBS is called Top Gear too...) my hubby and son love it - it's actually very funny. Last time we flew back from UK my hubby watched all the episodes on the in flight entertainment. He's off again this week, so will be hoping they have a new series. It's got some great lines in it!

Hooked on Top Gear too, and I'm not a "rev head" (husband into cars though). At least they are able to say what they think and it's entertaining. I thought the indestructable Toyota ute episode was great. It beats the sitcoms.
