January 20th ride
So i did all my shopping chores and got back home and decided to go down to my mother's house and check her cat... and leave my car there and ride home. So I checked the cat, hopped on my bike, and got onto the green river trail and to my surprise on the other side of the river was THE BIG BOYS! (Seattle Randonneurs) SO I went as fast as I could, but had to go through gravel and mud (construction) and a bridge (scary foot bridge) but i did it and got my bike up between 17 and 18mph until i caught up with them. But there was no DH!! everyone there said; oh he's feeling good today; he must be ahead. I caught up to these people because they were in the last few miles of a hard 50 miler... We got to the end of the ride and no DH!! There were others that had gone on ahead and they were all enjoying their coffee at the coffeeshop that started and ended the ride. But not my sweety. So I said my goodbyes (it was fun to ride with everyone even for just 5 miles) and headed towards home after calling DH on his cell and the ride leader also leaving him a message. I got 1/2 mile down the trail and he calls me. He was BEHIND! he'd stopped somewhere to fix his GPS (such an important bike gadget) and so he made it to the coffee shop moments after I took off! So he caught up with me quickly, and we rode the rest of the way home. 17.6 miles and SUN!!!! |

Mimi, Scared ya, didn't he?!
I rode 22 miles in the cold, but sun. I had a sock on with a seam that hurt my toe. So I went home. It was my day of pain.

Just got home from an easy 29 miler. Still working on endurance base, so no hills yet other than some rollers. Took a tick under two hours. Only stoppage time (eight minutes total) was for the many lights along Foothill Expressway, aka the Spandex Highway. Lots of folks out riding and enjoying the mild temps (high 50s) and sunshine. Perfect riding weather after the cold spell we've had here in the Bay Area.

Raining and 40F here, windy too! I ended up riding for three hours then soaking in the tub with the jets.

Will post more Later-
Did my first Brevet 200Km -120 miles Memo to self -avoid northern San Diego County - not a good place for a hill slug! took about 11 hours - got lost and wound up helping a lady that got hit by a car - like I said I'm going to start another thread on my misadventures

Kind of cold (33 degrees) but extremely windy with gusts up to 40 mph. Layering kept me acceptably warm but I decided to surrender at 36 miles. In my opinion, riding in constant, challenging headwinds counts for bonus miles.
It was a superb strength/LT workout, though. Snow is predicted for Sunday into Monday, so I want to get my miles in despite the cold/wind since I'll probably be joining Coach Troy on my trainer for at least a few days.
