Well, it depends on how well preserved you are and how much smell they can handle. Aaaaaaannnnnnddddddd.... they don't necessarily keep you "all together" unless you specify that. Ie: while some of you is teaching eye docs stuff, some of you is teaching a hand surgeon, or spine surgeon, or etc... they only need the parts they work on. You help pioneer things before they get into live subjects. It really saves on the amount of times I hear "Ooooops!" in surgery. Yes, I do get involved with the cadaver study/new instrumentation/experiment stuff as a tech since I'm at a university hospital. It's cool and disgusting, all at once.

Mostly, we tend to prefer that people donate organs that can be used here and now, if they can. Then the rest to "science" if they so choose. You positively affect the present and future with your past.

Off to bed. It's going to be a long one tomorrow. The cat gave up and passed out on the computer desk an hour ago. Except for the light snoring, you wouldn't know he was alive. Little sweetie pie.

Wow, no wonder you all are checking your e-mail on Smart Phones. I get maybe 0-5 work related emails a day . It was maybe the same or a little more when I was teaching. This is another reason why I could never be in the business world. Most of my personal emails are the daily ads from all of the various sporting type web sites I buy stuff from.
I feel my life has been very balanced with work and fun, since I started cycling. In order to make time for riding, I stopped doing a lot of "extra" stuff at work. I still did a good job, but my priorities changed. When school is done in 4 weeks, my main goal is to get a job where I can continue the kind of lifestyle I had before.

Well, there's been a few instances of "do it now, because you never know," in my life... so that is very influencing. Also, I have a couple of friends who are work a holics and I see what it does to their relationships. I know my limits! My DH is lucky in that he has a very good job where he can be flexible... once he was established there as a good executive, he pretty much does what he wants, if he can. I was always stressed and busy when I was in my thirties and forties, with my job, kids, teaching at the gym. At one point, I was teaching high school, teaching 7 aerobics classes a week, teaching 1st grade religious school on Sunday, and on the board of the JCC. No wonder I weighed 92 pounds and was always sick with asthma... I am much healthier now.

My thirties and forties were similar, although I went in the opposite direction weight wise. Too busy to workout or eat right, on-call 24/7, never ending stress, I ended up with awful joint issues and wicked allergies (popped up all of a sudden). Four years ago (at age 46) I just stopped, all of it; quit my job and moved over to a civil service job where I work 37.5 hours a week, and now I can go to the gym and eat much, much better! I'm thinking my fifties will be my best years ever.

After Hurricane Katrina, some of the animals at the local zoo (Audubon Zoo) were out of sorts because they didn't have any visitors. The National Guard troops that were camped in the adjacent park were encouraged to visit, do their PT runs through the zoo, which helped lift the spirits of both humans and animals.

Went and test rode an old Schwinn Breeze today after work. It's a 1969 or 1970 model that rode beautifully! Needs a little clean up of the chrome, but that Sturmey-Archer hub ticks along like it's new.

It's just POURING today... and I am soooo tired from my OR rotation. I geel really good about it, though. I got to 'man' the machines for a couple cases (with a lot of guidance) and the techs said they were impressed with my progress. That's a pretty big deal considering who was giving me the props. Finished out my day fishing stones out of someone's kidney. It was one of those things that's really strange and surreal. They actually glistened and shimmered like cut glass or polished amber. I said "Wow, it's like we're panning for gold!" to my tech. She laughed and said "Nephronuggets!" We had a good giggle.

Wow the OR humor is great!!

400k tomorrow and I just ate an entire pepperoni, sausage and linguica pizza by myself. I figure it's one of the 4 days a year I can eat like that and I am going to enjoy it. .

Bless you, Maillotpois! Have a delightfully terrible dessert for me, too.
