    RIP Bailey

After losing Cassie 20 months ago, and Remy just 4 months ago, this morning I had to say goodbye to my beautiful boy Bailey. 11 and a half years ago, I adopted him from the DC shelter as a puppy. He was born on my 40th birthday, and has always been my most special dog.

He was diagnosed with kidney disease 6 years ago, and we've been battling it ever since. But finally it got the better of him.

There will never be another one like Bailey...I don't think the tears will ever stop.

What a sweet face. You don't think the tears will stop - but they will. You'll never forget your sweet Bailey - but you will one day be able to remember the happy times without the overwhelming pain. We said goodbye to our sweet Cricket just before Easter this year - it still hurts, but it's getting better....

Oh, DB.....I'm so sorry to hear about Bailey.
I will light a candle for Bailey tonight. Cassie and Remy are there to meet him at the 'bridge with tail wiggles and kisses.
You did so right for all three. I know you feel badly, and I know, too, that it will get better in time. Bailey knows he had it good with you and loved you every day. You are a wonderful mom to your fur-kids.

    Okay....

So, we started out with our first cat, Velnix. She has since crossed over the rainbow bridge. We were so distraught without her in the house that we had 3 foster kitties living with us by the end of the week. Two of them still live with us - Ivy & Rowan.

Before losing our kitty we had adopted a dog from a shelter, a "pit-bull" (I won't get on my soap box yet) - Her name is Zemuda.

Then we adopted a tiny black kitten that rode home in the engine of my brothers truck - Lasher (not so small any more!!)

Somewhere along the way we adopted a kitten from a neighbor who also passed over the rainbow bridge (no pic) - her name was Izyne

Then there was Bug, a dog we sent to my parents house to live when our neighbor found her as a very small puppy in the middle of the street on her morning walk. She ended up moving back to our house last October.

Then there was Xilev --- She was a tiny kitten out in the cold. When we found the people she belonged to they said "it's ours but we're keeping her outside." I guess the disgust showed on my face b/c the mother said very hatefully "bring it in!!!" When she was out again a few days later in the ice and sleet I must have held the door open for a little too long b/c she moved in and hasn't moved out

We love each of them very much and keep telling ourselves we are at full capacity but we are in search of a larger home and have discussed adopting maybe, possibly, just one more....!!!!

You can read a little about Ivy, Zemuda & Rowan at the following website http://www.blue-hawk.org/happyhomes.html
