More info on lenticular clouds. We see them over Mt. Rainier a lot.

I was informed they are lenticular clouds, and they are formed near high mountains. (you can see Mount Rainier to the right)
They have to do with different temperatures, i guess.

I was watching my local morning weather recently and they were talking about lenticular clouds. Very dramatic!
Here's a photo of me all tarted-up to go to a party.
....................................That red lipstick is just too much.
But she did a good job otherwise. I didn't recognize me at first.

Where's the accordion? Still - lookin' good
I agree we should post more photo's - I like the idea of the photo on the way to work. Will try and remember my camera tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too dark.
And we really get our education here - those clouds in Seattle are something else.
If it's not one thing it's another
Yeah I never see clouds like that around here....we have lots of hills and small mountain ranges like the Catskill mtns and the Berkshire mtns, but no huge mountains like Rainier nearby.
Zen- you look great all 'tarted up'!
One of these days I'll put up a website for Ruby and her friends, but after all my Ruby adventures got deleted without warning in OT:A, I hesitate to post those kind of things here anymore. Frankly, it was a major bummer.
Currently, several of Ruby's new friends who have recently arrived are getting work done late at night in my little 'clinic' in a corner of my office. Since none of them have jobs or earn any income (at least that I am aware of), they qualify for free health care as minors. I did post a link a while back to show a bit of little Edith's 'surgery':
Edith's surgery
When Edith arrived her hips and shoulders and neck were no longer functioning well and she could not even stand up without crumpling to the floor. Good thing the others could not understand her frequent French expletives.
Now she is quite spry and nimble.

Well in truth I actually was getting ready to give Ruby and her friends their own website....and I still plan to go ahead with that project, probably after Christmas when our work typically slows down substantially for 2 or 3 months (hopefully not too badly this year). I usually am very good about backing things up but obviously I lapsed in this case. I'll pull some adventures together when I start to construct the website or blog, but in the meantime I am doing some repair work on some of Ruby's little companions whenever I get the spare time at night after work.
I do truly appreciate the kind words and I honestly did not expect this enthusiasm for Ruby to linger on, and I will say it does my heart good and inspires me to continue with it. Thanks you guys.![]()

We actually had an inch of snow this morning, which turned icy and then melted by the afternoon, but it's been very cold these days. Between that and Christmas and Thanksgiving and needing to get a few things and lots of extra food....it's all been conspiring to keep me from riding my bike this week or even using it for grocery shopping and errands.
Tomorrow I have to buy a load of yummy health food (x3) as xmas gifts to send our 3 grown (and struggling) children, and I'll need to take the car because it will be quite heavy, plus the high temp tomorrow is supposed to be 22F.
Winter is coming in early this year!![]()

I have been taking a computer break (okay, I admit--it was really a KNITTING immersion). Here's what I look at when I make my tea every morning. It was after a severe rain storm in March during which my studio was flooded. That's my boy, playing a game he made up, with lots of balls, paddles and water. Those pecan trees back there have produced about 150 lbs of pecans this year!![]()
