HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR TREK!!
Happy Birthday to you![]()
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
Here's hoping it does NOT become a Salsa-like saga.![]()

I don't think it'll be too bad.
When I moved out from my Ex-DPITA in I found perhaps the last semi-affordable condo in a semi acceptable neighborhood in the Bay Area. The huge blended family I bought from is likely passed of heart disease, they fried EVERYTHINGand painted nothing. I felt sorry for them but since my mutt and I needed a place to live...not sorry enough to say "psst, if you'd move out, clean the clutter and crushed velvet paintings, paint the joint and at least reface the cabinets you'd get much much more."
They had an awful realtor who'd put it on the market, didn't sell, lowered the price, on the market again, didn't sell, dropped the price and so on till I came around and said "hmmm, dirty, greasy, dingy, needs paint, new floors and drawers .... but....potential".
I just refinanced which lowered my mortgage from![]()

Thanks for asking, mom!I am on day 11 of pretty darned good energy, considering. Perhaps the new drug is helping already. Blood tests all returned normal results, so there is no direct explanation for the terribly low energy I was in. I'm just so glad to feel like me again! And, boy! Do I ever have a lot of stuff to do at home and at work and in the yard and on the bike, etc, to catch up from that month long drag!
Trek - we'd love to see the pics of the kitchen. We have one more thing to do in ours before I'm ready to take some pics and post them. We're not doing the whole redo as we simply can't afford it, but the paint and light fixtures have made a dramatic difference!!
Knot - glad you're home safe and yes, sorry you have to go to work.
CWR - thanks! I'm liking feeling better already
Oh, and spring is in the air, and the herons are back in town. If you already get my picture a day, you already got one picture. I'll be watching for perfect light again, and driving the whole 3 minutes it takes to get there some night this week for more pics. They are such amazing birds - somehow they are graceful and regal looking, while still being gawky and geeky. heehee.
Hugs and butterflies to all of you!

Thanks Spazz, you have an incredible eye.
I started with a little "curb appeal". Gardening's fun and with luck it can add some privacy. This is what my neighbors and most units look like, agapanthus, ivy over and over. Bleah. The good thing is there's a lot of green space, the bad thing is in front of each unit the same boring plants.

...and this is mine next door.
It's overcast today but you can get the idea. Took the boring ivy out and agapanthus which is just a home for snails.
So far I've planted azalea, abutalon, pineapple sage, yarrow, wooly lambs ear, miniature roses, nasturtiums as ground cover, the lavender is happiest of all there...the idea is more privacy for me, get the whole shebang lining the front walkway. The birds like it and who knows it could ad curb appeal.
