The Link the photo game thread

I stole this from another forum (http://bicycles.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2839) and thought it was kinda cool. Keep the photos clean.

The basic idea is to post a photo that is somehow related to the previous one.It doesn't have to be related to cycling.

So, if I post a pic of Kenneth Branagh, next person could post one of Shakespeare.

    Let's play.

The laurel wreath was for winners of athletic contests. So that's probably why you couldn't find Homer with one.

I kind of like this as a prize for athletic contests myself.

Who do you know who placed 3rd in the BARB's race? I'm amazed impressed and jealous (I ran 10 steps after my dog today and sprained my ankle).

The national gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh (aka the Athens of the North).

The bicycles are an added bonus. (The soup tins were a temperory aberration)

If Homer truly existed, the date of his birth is usually 850 - 800 BC. The laurel wreath was only awarded at the Pythian games. The laurel was the symbol of Apollo and the Pythian games were in honor of him. These didn't start until 600 BC or so, but did have poetry and music competitions. Thus you are unlikely to found a bust of Homer with a laurel wreath. Of course you could always make one in photoshop.

I retire defeated. I did know that Homer probably wasn't real though.
