Roadie Gal, I used to have a sheltie named Kelly. She was so sweet. My little niece called her "the following dog". I miss her so much!

You guys all have such cute pets. I really have to upload some pictures of my own two. I almost adopted another cat from my veterinarian last week--they take in animals from a local shelter that have been scheduled for euthanasia. I'm still thinking.

Yeah - poor pooch must have a headache.
My dog Nala chases rabbits in her sleep, but nothing more than a little paw action. That doggie must be after a whole bunch of bunnies!

As for renaming... Discovered that one dog I adopted responded to "coos" which was Apache for dog. So I had a dog named "Dog". I renamed her "Branwen," figured being named for the sister of an Irish God was much more dignified. She quickly learned her new name, and that meals were scheduled regularily - "Branwen Breakfast!", "Branwen Treat!" "Branwen Dinner!" Miss that silly black pup. She's waiting across the Rainbow Bridge now - playing with some of the other TE pups, kitties, and other fur babies.

Well, I just got back from the vet with the new addition. He tested positive for two tick diseases so with all his meds, blood test, heartworm and adoption fee, this little (27 pounder) red head has cost me $370 today

He still needs to be groomed and then I'll post some pix. So far, Zeus hasn't snapped at him yet and I have him on the leash in the house so I can keep an eye on him.

Well, so far he has peed in the house (marking the couch) and he just threw up water by my desk. Arrrgghh. I can't wait until we get through the adjustment period.

Right now he is tied up outside while I finish up some work. So far no barking either. Just a little crying when I sent him outside so I could clean up the pee mess. He's a dominant little turd for a neutered male!

Correction: He's barking - a nice bark and woof at the neighbor who just came home!

Take him for a long walk--that'll wear him out and he'll settle down. Best of luck!

Some days I secretly wish for a sheltie.
My first rescued dog was a collie that I named Maggie Rose. She just blossomed after being adopted by a family with 3 little girls that loved to brush her and dress her up.
Heaven to Toby would be a room full of 9 year old girls who would brush him and dress him up in ribbons and just adore him.

We're going to be doing pet therapy with some abused kids next month. He should do great. I may be a bit stressed, but we'll see how it goes.

BTW, he's a collie... all 78 fuzzy pounds of him...

Cameron, my smooth collie, sleeps like that. He's always whimpering and wiggling, and chasing things in his sleep.

A shot of Cameron on guard at the top of the stairs:

They like to do that to new moms and dads. Congratulations again on your new family member. I am just thrilled for you!

Roadie Gal, when Mr. Sundial comes home I'm gonna share Camerons's picture with him. He just looks so smart sitting there at the top of the stairs.

Shiloh's doing SO WELL these days. This morning we came across kids waiting for the school bus and he just walked on by them. He did look at them curiously, but he kept walking and didn't cower, try to run, or poop. And this afternoon, we came across two loud and rambunctious 9-year old boys on bikes and they rode their bikes around us (I know them) and Shiloh just kept going, not even pulling on the leash. It's nice to know that he's getting more comfortable and confident. Now if I could just figure out how to get him to just walk on by squirrels...

Shiloh is making progress--yay! It took Niki about 1 year before she came to totally trust me and not want to bolt at the first site of anything new.

Good luck with the squirrels. I have yet to meet a dog that didn't want to chase them.

    What adorable collies!

Here's a couple "before" pix. The first is him and Zeus checking each other out in the backyard. The second is in the are on the way to the groomers. Notice he's sitting in B's carseat!

And here's the "after" pix. I had to give Zeus a bath when we got home because the little stinker peed on Zeus's head! He's quite the redhead - I can't wait to get a picture of him with my other redhead!

He sure is drinking a lot of water. I've had to take it away because he just drains the bowl - and I don't need to be getting up multiple times during the night.
