Had my annual review, got a rating of "outstanding" which in my beloved South translates into a 4% raise...

Still not worth going back to snowy Unionland, though.

7:45 am. I hear a melodious sound.... is it my beloved? Is it the ringing of celestial bells? Nope. It's my phone. Mimi calling to tell me the power is out in Seattle. So if no-one hears from those PNW'ers for a bit, it's cuz they don't have electricity.

    I do.

My sister always said that hardships come in two's
A funeral and break up afternoon
There is really no good time for anyone to leave
In a couple weeks I'll get my chance to grieve
And hopefully by then my mind will be all clear
And I can cry for the reasons that I'm there
Not for the all things that are happening at home
The church was filled but I was still alone
But this is not a ploy to gain some sympathy
I made this bed and now it's time to sleep

    And you don't know me
    But you owe me
A little time to find some piece of mind
    And when you hold me
    I'm not so lonely
It will be difficult to leave this life behind

I may eventually get used to living here. I really miss snow and cold weather, so the climate is hard on me.

Oh, I thought it was something I was missing out on...

The latest on daughter's Roy, as of a couple days ago: He has an Elizabethan collar, only it's put on upside down, so it's like a cone that goes from under his jaw to just above his feet. He can no longer chew his leg, which is now looking better and growing pinfeathers back. He has stopped losing weight. He has to have his stump soaked four times a day, and has to be bathed twice a day. When I heard him on the phone, he sounded chipper. He has to walk in tiny baby steps. So- crisis averted for the moment. The big question is, will he ever stop having the urge to chew his leg off, so he can get the collar off?

The weather down here seems warm for December to me. 70's and 50's.

Kit - *sigh* Life changes and sometimes the transition is extreme and harsh. But those sad feelings fade and our hearts mend and we go on. Life flows in the direction it is meant to. It will be ok. It will be ok. I promise.

Just hold it together today. Tomorrow we'll embrace, cry, laugh, learn to enjoy life again and start working on your future. Your happier future.
Remember what we talked about this morning. Try to be positive and supportive. It will benefit and strengthen both of your hearts in the long run. You can still be OK, just not the same as before. "OK" can be very good place though.

Hmmm... I think it's a perfect time to get away from it all and take a little break from life, don't you?

Know this - anytime you need me, I'm here.

Huh. I did not know this. The last time I had strep throat, I think I was 14 (32 years ago). Whoa. What a butt-kicker. Sometimes I get lesser sore throats, though, so I'll keep the suggestions in mind. Congrats on the raise! Richly deserved.

X-mas party at the clinic today! I saw 3 patients and I was done! Now I must go eat dessert!

Kit--I don't know what's going on for you, but I send gentle best wishes.

PNW girls, Mimi, Salsa--I hope the power's back on soon and everybody's OK.

Knot and Trek...oh, heck, you don't need any encouragement! Just keep on !
