How many of you have named your bike?

my bike names are pretty self-explanatory. my cruiser/workhorse- of- a- bike is Chunky-Green, since it's green and very heavy (VERY!!), aka the Chunkster ... my road bike is Lean-Green (Riding Machine ) since it's also green and quite a lot lighter than the cruiser. I just got a mtn bike for my b-day about a week ago, so it doesn't have a name yet... it's "carbon" colored (kind of a charcoal gray with a matte finish)... any suggestions?

i specifically don't give my bikes gender.... nor my car (which is simply "Buggy" or "Slug-Bug" among other variations), i think i'd feel funny if i gave them too human-like names although the plant my roomie and i share (really it's her's) is named "Phil" (short for Philium... dont ask ) and is definitely a boy... and i've rambled enough

My new road bike is Kandy Mango. she is sleek, sexy and tropical fruit flavored so I named her Carmen Miranda (remember the fruit bowl hat lady?!!!) ok, I'm old but I like it!

My bike's name is Maus.
I decided on it when Ry was watching a history channel special on the crazy war machines the Germans came up with in WWII. The Maus was a tank that weighed 100+ tons (estimated) and had tracks as wide as an entire Panzer tank. It was so heavy, if parked on cement, it would crush the cement, and if driven on the ground, it would sink in over a foot. It took 50 people to operate, and had a ship's gun mounted as its main gun... They only built one because it proved so huge it was just rediculous to try to continue to manufacture them.
It seems to fit my huge, heavy Huffy, painted flat OD Green. That and feels kind of smart a$$, calling such a big thing 'maus'. =) My next bike will likely be the 'mauser' unless it speaks to me in other directions. =)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think my new Sugar's name is Fred.

My husband and I were discussing the cost/benefit analysis of a bunch of bikes at once, and we kept confusing each other with our terms. Finally I said, "Let's call the sugar I saw at the store Fred, to simplify things."

It worked ...

Both of my bikes have names...

My ole Terry is named Faithful, because no matter what I still have a blast on that ole machine. My new sleek Trek is called Thin Lizzy because it is an OCLV carbon 5200 and weighs under 16
pounds...and it is sleek black/smoke gray with camo black/white/grey handlebar tape...she sure is purity...and Yes, both both of my bikes are female...Terry for obvious reasons and Trek because it is WSD!

Karen ... my road ride is also a Trek 5200 WSD. What a terrific road bike (I have to clarify that 'road' part so my mountain bike doesn't feel like I'm showing a preference

My mountain bike is a Trek 4900 WSD named Iris and my 5200 is Doro-thy ... she finally told me her name after my 'boys' gave me a pair of outrageous red Sidi shoes. When I tried to name the bike Ruby (as in ruby slippers) she politely said ... she was Doro-thy and I could keep the shoes.

BTW ... I thought the Carmen Miranda name after Kandy Mangoe was VERY creative!

I named by Trek 5200 WSD Fuji Floral bike Makani - Hawaiian for wind. Sometimes I feel like she's pushing me along like the wind and other times she's a headwind.

So, I came late to the party and I'm trying to catch up...

I see nobody left any chips in the bowl...

In general, I refer to all my rides as my "ponies" cause I'm a cowgirl at heart. Then they get a proper name so I can blame them personally for my sore butt.

Anyway, my old TREK1000 was "RoadKill"; more a reflection of how I felt rather then the performance of the bike. It came about due to this little miniature Barbie doll a friend and I found while out on a run. It's hair was all a-frazzle; it had one arm and looked like a truck had run over it 100 times. The doll was dubbed RoadKill Barbi. I had just started training for the AidsRide and my body wasn't co-operating... I felt like that Barbie. So I tie-wrapped her to my head tube, much like the maidenhead on a ship, where many miles later she still is.

My motorcycle (Kawasaki ZX-6) was "Skeeter". She just went to a new home.

My spanky new bike, Specialized Allez Comp in the zebra outfit hasn't got her name yet, but I'm working on it.

Now, I've seen some posts in other topics that lead me to believe there are some new bikes out there. Come on grrls... what did you name the baby?

It started on pretty tricky woodland singletrack behind my apartment. My hubby's bike had decided to die on him, and I said I wanted to go for one more quick run through the maze-like trails. My hubby refers to me/my looks as 'elfin, or pixie-like' so I was dubbed something of a woodland pixie. My attitude, however, does NOT fit this, and after tackling him into a tree once for calling me his 'little pixie' on a very difficult and frustrating part of this trail, I was re-named "B*tchcakes" which I rather enjoy (one of those names your friends and loved ones can call you, but no one else can...) so While I'm on this ride, he hears my pretty new rockhopper snapping twigs and whirring through the sand and rattling over stones... As I yip and fly through the curtain of raspberries that marks the end of the trail, he bows and says "Hail B*tchcakes, the woodland fairy who flies through the forest on boots and wheels!"

Loooong story short, my black, petite, but workhorseish '04 rockhopper's name is '*****cakes' and I'm looking forward to getting a little fairy-type toy and giving it GI Joe's tough clothes, boots, and strapping it to B*tchcakes' handlebars as a little figurehead to guide me through the trails.

I've named my Mondonico the "lavendar menace", she's a subtle lavendar metalic color (looks silver except in the light). None of my other bikes including TREK 420 namesake were named, none of my cars etc so this is a first.

I'm looking forward to getting a little fairy-type toy and giving it GI Joe's tough clothes, boots, and strapping it to B*tchcakes' handlebars as a little figurehead to guide me through the trails.

I'm gonna have to find something appropriate for the new pony.

Cute, but really out there for aerodynamics... plus with a head that big on a zebra striped bike, the town animal control might come after me for keeping a farm animal in a residential area.
