Kelo- How much to feed a toad: Probably 10 a day? I feed mine till he stops- so I buy 24 crickets (large- but those chirp) and put him in a container and he just eats. If you put the crickets in with the toad- I'd just put in a large amount- like a couple dozen, and then restock when you don't hear chirping/see crickets. They eat a lot. I have to feed the crickets, too- these little orange cubes http://tinyurl.com/y5z49b - one bottle lasts a long time. Like a year or longer. I put in two-four at a time.

Lise- that's awful what FIB stands for!! Mr. Toad is my friend- I could never feed him to Addy. That was the whole deal when I got him- he would someday be set free unharmed, except maybe his dignity.

Iowa- Do you know why there are no cheerleaders in Iowa? They can't keep them from grazing at halftime! (MN joke)

Trek420- you might want to try chicken broth or tuna to scent your taco next time- it's a little less drastic, especially if you are out in company.

The long-term plan for Addy is to gradually wean her off the toad scent, _after_ I have her eating reliably, and switch over to frozen mice. I'm not that crazy about the live thing, but if that's what it takes for now, I'll do it. They actually make "fake" sausage things for snakes to eat- but they are made out of mice anyway.

Yay! Work one day, off the next! Should be getting an e-mail any time with Inez's tracking number. Snake on a plane!!

    HEy Nanci,

What's the name of the bike shorts you loved & posted about a while back?
I'm referring to the new ones you bought and not the Trashy cat ones.

Craze- they were the Sugoi RS Flex- Susan says the 07's will have a different chamois. I still love them. They are long. I love the fabric.

    The question *now* is:
How old was Kitsune when she jumped through that hole in the Fabric of space/time?
    I take it we are agreed it was not an innocent accident (Oh, yeah, those happen *all* the time);
and she was not pushed either

Of course, she reckons she is working on the darning of it: (even as we speak) with her very fine needles and filaments of some very ductile alloy

Thank you everyone for the kind, inspirational words and hugs.

Knot- I have no idea where you where and missed you terribly. I do hope everything is alright.

(((((X)))))- I hope you are feeling much better today.

Annie- Best of luck to your DH and you. Let us know the election results. I use to know a lot of Iowa jokes, growing up in MN, but I have forgotten all of them.

CWR- That is a lot of fish! DH is so proud of his mini Alaskan display at work.

Well it is another rainy day here. My day looks the same as most days. Clean-up after the guys, laundry, read a book, exercise, nap, go for a run, make dinner, read...exciting, huh?

    I'm here, I'm here.

I'm working huge hours at the clinic and utterly exhausted. gonna be a crazy week because one of the other staff is home with her wife, who just had foot surgery. I'm running around like mad at work.

    Very very very very tired.

don't forget to vote today. I forgot, and gotta mail my ballot TODAY.

yeah, I forgot to do my ballot over the weekend, but I got my bike water bottles sqeaky clean and washed all my bike clothes. Priorities.

OK, I totally don't get why a thread has 440 pages, but it must be a good one.

Snakes, toads, crickets ... very interesting group. I don't have any weird creatures except there's this beetle that keeps climbing up my window.

But I have exciting news to report. I am finally swimming well enough to pass the old dude in the pool. He was my embarrassment for many weeks and he was even passing me while I was using fins. Fins! But today I was keeping up with him and then passed him.

I must be a horrible person for even mention passing a 70-year-old dude as a great athletic feat, but ya' gotta take small victories when they come. (Oh, and I stopped using fins, too.)

    Nanci, what a recipe
roll frozen mouse sausage in beaten egg
    dust with bread crumbs
    roll breaded mouse on frog.
    feed to fussy snake.

Reminds me of .... I think they are called Risos? You take little baby mozzarella, encase that it in a little ball of aroborio rice (fully cooked), roll that in home made marinela, then bread crumbs, optional dusting of parm...bake, enjoy.

I'll try chicken broth or tuna on my mouse next time, especially if I'm with company.

"The long-term plan for Addy is to gradually wean her off the toad scent"

maybe there's a patch for this?

    welcome Inez, the flying snake.

Knot, nice priorities! Now that's a gal after my own heart: clean water bottles....then vote. Don't work too hard.

Do you think she would rather you used marinara?

And would that be an aikido roll if you used Marinela?
