I think these eggs are never going to hatch! I wonder what the eagles are thinking now.... hhhrmph I keep cleaning this nest and sitting here, sitting here, sitting here, hmmmm - wonder what that flushing sound is???

People on the eagle forum are saying they are duds- if the babies don't get out within 24 hours of pecking the hole, they don't have much of a chance. I feel like crying. I feel like not watching any more...Good thing the birds won't know what happened, or miss the babies, or anything.

Are there holes in both? I thought the 2nd egg wasn't supposed to hatch until today anyway. Don't give up yet, Nanci. They may still may still make it out of the eggs. Optimism Nanci - optimism

Well, whoever was on there just stood up, and the hole in the front egg looked a lot bigger. Apparently this pair's eggs usually hatch on the 38th day, not the 35th, so there still could be hope, but there is also the issue of there having been holes for quite a while. But maybe those weren't really holes, maybe just someone's wild imagination...

A bigger hole is good news! I sense optimism in your post I've been out running around and at meetings this morning - checked in first chance I've had. What date does the 38th put for hatching? Ooh - at least the weekend is coming and it'll be easier to keep an eye out for babies.

    Changing of the guard
Two eggs with holes in them (or dark spots at least)
First time I caught the changing of the guard, cool

We need to think positively - there WILL be babies! If not, then I think we'll all need a big group hug - and lots of chocolate.

I wouldn't call it a head, but fuzzy stuff for sure. Unless it's bits from the nest that were stuck to the shell. But I would tend to think it was something from the inside of the egg.

I have to say... if those eggs are "duds" I'm going to be heartbroken... I know it's silly... but dangit... I feel like they're family now...

    please, please... hatch babies...

I'm trying hard to think positive thoughts...

I just saw mom/dad stand up- and had a clear view of the eggs, but the gray fuzz is really hard to tell if it's a baby, or something stuck to the egg, or a piece of nest in front of the egg...I'm not convinced yet.

I finally got to see something dark on the egg. Maybe it was the hole, maybe it was the fuzz. Now the video is stuck again. But at least I got to see something other than the bird sitting down. I thought I heard egg cracking sounds. Who knows?
