Where do you keep your bike?

I think you made the right choice. My brother-in-law, who has a lot of back issues, loves his Roubaix, but he'd be miserable on the Tarmac. Funny, after I posted my earlier comment, I had a question on my food/fitness forum about the ruby/Amira comparison. Can't wait to see pictures. Are you getting a '12 or '13? And color? Pictures!!!!! They've, of course, changed all the graphics/colors.

2012, 'cause it's on sale and I can get the Apex for about the price of the basic 2013 with the Sora components (my original budget wasn't even that high). I got the white/teal, because while the black/pink looked nice and all, I'm just not a pink person. (And to be honest, the better components on the Apex were just an excuse to not get the black and pink bike.)

The fact that my Amira came in a classic white/black/red combo (something I'll never get tired of and won't be 'so last year') and NOT pink was, while not the deciding factor, a major plus. I looked on Specialized's site after all this discussion and my Amira Comp Compact is now white/green/gray instead of white/black/red, but the major change is that they downgraded it from Ultegra to 105 components. The SL4Expert (I think) is closer to what I bought last year, component wise.

Crap, too bad my bike got stolen in November instead of September last year, so I could have taken advantage of the 2011 closeouts. As it was, I was buying early in the model year, but too late to get in on the closeout bargains.

Anyway, very excited about your new wheels. You'll love her.

It is not unusual to find one in the back of my Honda Fit to be used for a noon ride or partial commute. Otherwise, the Ruby is in the guest bedroom (which is really the bike supply and accessory room) while the Vita and the Trek are kept in the garage.

Murienn, I am only old fashioned when it comes to technology and things like sending thank you notes, in writing! Years ago, my kids even beat me down to allow them to wear jeans to religious school and not get dressed up. Still get nervous wearing pants in the sanctuary of the synagogue, though.
Other stuff, not so much. In fact, my nick name was Tilly toilet mouth in high school, and that was given by a teacher... really, I spent half of my teenage years hanging out on the Boston Common and I don't remember any of it .
This has nothing to do with bikes. I hope the OP likes her bike!

In a separate little building that is really a gardening shed, except that it matches my house. I guess the person that built this house was into gardening, but the first thing we said we said when we saw the house was, "Oh look, a little house for our bikes!" Right now, there's just 4 in there, but at one time there were 7 or 8. In the dead of winter, my Kuota comes into the house and goes up in our loft, on the trainer. If it's nice enough to ride outside, I ride my Guru, with wider tires.

Now when I go house hunting, blurbs such as "perfect place for in-laws" may also be translated to "perfect place to store bikes"

Mine are in my living room of my one bedroom apartment. There is room for one in the patio closet, but then I have to open/close two more doors and get around my patio chairs (very small patio) so why bother. :-) The mountain bike frequently just lives in the car.
My cousin has hers on one of those anti-gravity type bike racks, tucked in between the kitchen table and the wall. Works well for a tight space, but you have to move the table to get a bike.

My carbon roadie sleeps upstairs at the foot of my bed. My xc bike sleeps in the formal dining room next to the drapes. My mtb sleeps currently in the formal dining room also next to the china hutch.

I tried to convince DH we needed a bike stand / hooks in that room. But he says, "in the *dining* room?!"...um ya but my bikes don't dine in there lol.

Right now, all of our bikes are stored in our garage (cars live in the driveway) with one down in the basement on the trainer at pretty much all times (which one will vary though!).

We are moving in a couple of weeks and we are a bit nervous about storing all the bikes, the sea kayaks, the weight bench/racks and even our treadmill in the garage (no room in the house). We will also go down to one car so that the car can also fit in the garage. We've gotten somewhat complacent about security living in the country and now we'll have to be more cognizant of it. Does anyone alarm their garage or anything? Luckily, it has no windows.

We don't worry about the house with 3 dogs over 75 lbs, but they won't have access to the garage so we aren't sure how to best protect our toys in there!

In the far distant past, before I moved in with my now DH, I kept all three in my little cabin ; my commuter bike in the kitchen hanging from the ceiling, and my road and mtn bikes hanging over my bed! For the decade which passed where I wasn't riding much to speak of, they were crammed into storage. I must say, part of the reason I am riding again is that we now have our bicycles easily accessed in a special little shed , part potting shed, part bicycle barn. So now it's so easy to go in and choose one off of the hanging hook and ride it. (The only one I'm interested in riding now is my circa 1993 Cannondale atb I made into a road comfort bike. ) Having written all this I would like to end by saying, that where you keep your bike, highly accessible, or crammed in storage, really does make a difference to the ease it is to actually get on it. If you can get away with it, let your bike live in the house (they don't need to be potty trained)... but I couldn't get away with that now ...lol
