I used to make a delicious lime chiffon pie with tofu. MmmmmMMMMmm!

You know, there are some people here who rather like the taste of tofu - as in hack a chunk off the block, stuff it in the mouth and eat. (Homemade is best, duh)

Yeah, I'm weird, but last summer when we were having the discussion of eating protein after rides, I tried eating a bit of tofu after rides, and it did all the magical things it was supposed to - not that I can remember what the magical things were now...

Of course, I rarely turn down an apple pie, either. (Someone else can have all my bananas)

Well you'll just have to leave then. No tofu likers allowed.

Seriously, I actually like tofu in my Annie's Pot Pie. My homemade pot pie is better, but when I'm being lazy or in a hurry, Annie's will do.

    Could I just lurk, then?

(I knew it was a mistake to admit to liking tofu.)

I suppose. Just don't have too much fun reading personal posts.

The pie was a mistake. Actually I made a mistake. I could blame it on the recipe paper being really grody and I couldn't read it, or the fact that Thom wasn't here to cut up the apples for me, or PTSD... I left out a whole cup of shortening! I should have taste tested!

I don't know if we'll even eat anymore of it. Thom's comment, "It tastes like store bought."

I'll need to make up for it with a pot pie I guess. Or maybe beef and beer stew with dumplings.

How about heating up a slice and putting a huge scoop of ice cream on top? Wouldn't want to waste apples, and you'd get the plus of adding dairy!

    I'm so sorry

V - DH is an equisite pie maker, (a big reason why we are married, but that's another story). He says that when a pie does not turn out you simply have to chuck it, have a good cry (grieving is part of the process) and make another. Little does he know that I would sift thru the trash to find his cast-offs. He says it's part of moving on and forgetting the past, living in the moment. I say "whatever, I'm eatin it".

We got a gift from one of my clients. She runs an orchard. One of these apples is supposed to make a whole pie. It was even delicious.

    I'm on vacation.

Yesterday I made a chicken pot pie for dinner. This morning I made an apple pie. After rereading this thread I decided I simply had to make sure that this time it turned out all right.

Well, V, how was it? You can't just leave me in suspense like that.

BTW, this whole thread is a fun read. Thank-you for reviving it.

Brilliant thread, thank you for boosting it! I got the strongest urge to go home and make apple pie, even though I've never done it before. The scotch especially sounded like a good tip, we have some slightly sub-standard hooch taking up space up in the attic.

That's either one insanely huge apple or Wahine has a really tiny head.
