After lunch I ate more chocolate. Here are those fortunes:
    1. Do what feels right.
    2. Love without rules.
    3. Make a list of your dreams.
    4. Dare to love completely.

Now there's a job I want, writing Dove chocolate fortunes!

    an hour later...

Knot stumbles out into the livingroom, a wild and desperate look in her eyes. Is it madness? No, it is Murphy soap fumes and the zing of orange-scented air freshener.

She braved the murky depths of adolescent hygiene, and cleaned SKnot's bathroom. Brave soul. Cleaned it top to bottom. Even scraped the congealed crud from his electric toothbrush. More cannot be revealed, lest delicate natures be affronted.

The she took safety and sanity into her own hands, and tidied his room and changed the sheets on his bed. Amazing discoveries of untold wealth ensued! Look! Stacks of clean underwear tucked away under the bed! Behold! Long-lost sweatshirts ! Gaze in wonder at several pairs of clean socks where no socks have gone before!

Ah, but not all discoveries are pleasant ones. Witness the terror of unidentifiable laundry trapped in the sheets at the foot of the bed. Food wrappers wandering aimlessly across the floor. Treacherous piles of paper (forgotten homework?) lurking in wait to topple the weary traveller.

Bedroom and bathroom are ready for the arrival of Grandma, who will be staying the night tomorrow. The washer and dryer are running at full speed. The couch already bears the warm fresh results of the last hour, waiting to be folded.

And now to tackle the rest of the apartment...

That's how it goes most of the time in my household maelstrom. But when Grandma comes to spend the night, break out the soap and scrub-brushes! Battle stations! Woooop wooop woooop!

Whoa! No-one posted at all last night? Is the power out in the Antipodes?

I slept like crap, had nightmares, and am miserable. I should take a pic of me with these huge bags under my eyes and post it so y'all can see the real me. (I look nothing like Flossie, who always arises fresh and sparkly and ready to greet the day with a smile.)

It is pitch dark here. Don't think I'd ever feel safe riding when it's this dark. How do you darkness-commuters do it?

Coffee. Gotta drink coffee. Eating breakfast might be a good idea, too.

    o.
with my current job, I'm not commuting, but the key is good lights and good night vision. I usually start riding at 5AM on weekdays, but this week I only got one ride in. Monday I was in 29 Palms with the 508, Tuesday I decided to sleep in. Wednesday I slept in, and Today I forgot to set the alarm. Now I have to decide what I want to do this weekend. My company is having a picnic at the beach, the Riverside club is having a century (on the path where I broke my arm), or I can do a ride in Redlands and go to a 'puter meeting afterwards....

sorry you didn't sleep so well knot. even with baggs under your eyes i'm sure you still look beautiful.

my cleaning is usually along trek's style of cleaning. takes me 5 hours to do a 2 hour clean.

ah yes the dark times have come. it so hard just getting up in the morning when the sun isn't coming up until 9:18am going down at 7:56pm and we are losing 4 mins and 26 seconds a day. noooooooooo!!!!!!

Lise- I am pleased everything is going so well with J! Safe travels and enjoy the wedding.

Knot- Please come here and clean. Try three teens, all boys, who share a bathroom. It was so much easier to keep the house nice and clean when they were little.
I am sorry you slept poorly, it could have been all that cleaning, it is not good to clean too much.

I do not even like running in the dark. It is creepy in the woods (one too many scary movies/books) and there are no sidewalks where I live, which would be fine if the drivers did not seem to think they got better marks for almost hitting runners/walkers/cyclists.

Fredwina- I think all your weekend options sound like great fun. I cannot wait to hear which one you choose.

Note to self- talk amongst yourselves- How could you forget to buy socks (smacks head)-tad chilly running this morning in 32 degree weather wearing summer weight no show socks?!? Do you not harp at your oldest every.single.day. to make certain he has layers in his bag for running? Yes, you are constantly on his case, so what do you do? You forget. (Smacks head again)

I'm the same on the cleaning. I let stuff slide until it *needs to be done* then I do it fantastically well, we all stand around looking at the newly vacuumed floor/cleaned kitchen/bleached shower, etc etc etc... then it gets dirty again...

I didn't sleep so great either. I'm living with a blanket thief. I dream of snow drifts and freezing to death in the arctic... then wake up and discover someone's completely wrapped herself in the blankets and is happily stretched waaaayyyyyy out and snoring and snerking like a noisy little angel. Aww.

So I unwrap the angel and steal the blankets back, to hear angry squeaking and grumping noises until she realizes that when I have enough covers to cover myself, she *should* theoretically have enough, too. Someday I'm gonna play the "You get the blankets, I get the bed" game.

Another restless night, another interview today. Early this afternoon... just before work. EEK! Not so nervous. I complained to DGF that I couldn't bike to this one so I didn't want to do the interview. She said "You're kidding me, right?" ...um... no?

so I'm going anyway, because really, a good job is a good job, anyway, and with any luck, maybe I can get a bike rack and do a park 'n ride or something once I'm over the main scary freeway...
