Please PM me, Lise! Can't help but be nosy after reading the little hints you've thrown out.......

    Congrats, DirtD! Whoo-ee!

Love, absolutely LOVE your ee.cummings quote, CWR. So perfect for my time of life.

I saw snowflakes today. UGH!!! Nothing against snow, but NOT YET!! Couldn't we wait till December, at least? Not that it stuck, but still, the thought of snow. I actually brought the indoor trainer out for it's first session of the season. Not ready for that!

My kitty has a name............ drum roll, please................................
Houdini, the wonder cat! 'Cause he can get in and out of anywhere! As he's already proved to us. Poor little guy - in the time he was out wandering, he picked up fleas, ear mites, and roundworms. All treated at the vet today. So I can only imagine how feisty he'll be when he's totally healthy! Whoooo!!! He and the guinea pig have now met, face to face. Guinea pig in cage, cat clinging with claws to outside of cage, staring each other down. Cat backed of first, falling off the cage. Might as well let them get used to each other. I just wish I'd had the camera handy! Sometime.......

mimitabby - what did I miss about the pet shop?? And the cats??

Spent most of the evening working on my halloween costume. Fun! It's for a Halloween bike ride. The Pumpkin Ride in Preston, MN. Anyone else doing any costume rides? I LOVE halloween. My favorite holiday. No kids left to create costume for, so lucky I get to do it for me.

TD moves so fast! I'm not keeping up like I'd like to.

Dirt, that's cool about the new bike! Did you get the red one?

Annie- I'm glad the kitty is working out for you. I guess it hadn't sunk in you're up in Iowa. Did you get any of the snow?

Lise- I'm happy for you. He sounds wonderful.

My daughter called last night, crying inconsolably. All I heard was "amputation." Thank God it wasn't her son or husband, but it was her poor little Senegal Parrot, Prescious Roy, who had shredded his Happy Hut and then entangled his foot and hanged there with the circulation cut off till she found him. $750 surgery, but he survived, and the good news is instead of losing the leg, he may even have no toes but a partial foot left. She blames herself for not checking on him- but she could hear him during the time period, making normal noises and talking...Still- I understand how she feels.

Wow! $750 to amputate parrot toes. That's almost as expensive as human surgery.

I'm glad the bird was OK. Interesting that he stayed calm even while he was hanging there. Guess he figured he was safe because your daughter was near?

WHEW!!!!! Things here have finally settled a bit. The job I came back to IL for was too good to be true...after two weeks of 3-4 hours sleep a night, endless meetings with bosses to get the situation corrected, countless assurances of "it'll be okay" and "it's not that bad" from said bosses...I handed in my keys/phone/pager/ID/computer yesterday and said buh bye.

Then I called an old boss and asked if she could use me to cover for the maternity leave of the caseworker who took over for me and she said she'd LOVE to have me back! She also said it would be fine to do some job hunting on company time if things are slow! Sometimes life just works out.

I'm pretty tickled. I find myself, at 46, being much less willing to tolerate a maximum stress job, I've done it for so many years that now I just want to go to work in the morning and leave the work there when I go home.

    Shopping

Hello All. I finally spent all my money (seriously, now I must be good ) on some cool runing weather clothing, which can double as biking clothing. It took a lot of research (when a budget it tight, shopping is not pleasurable) and I to convince DH that cotton is not a good base layer.

I bought (all on sale): Sugoi MidZero Zoe Knicker, Sugoi MidZero Zip Neck Top, Sugoi MidZero Speedster ( not the greatest colour but for $28.83, I will love it), InSport Women's 5K Short, and Under Armour Women's LS Frequency Tee. My mistake was not buying gloves and smart wool socks. Now I will never get the okay, I promised I was done until the next season. SIGH

Hopefully santa will bring me gloves, warmer socks, and a fleece vest. I also have a HUGE wish list on TE for the boys to choose from. ;-)

DirtDiva-Congrats on succumbing to the force and buying Darth.

Annie- Houdini sounds like the perfect name for your new kitty. What is your costume going to be? Their is a Halloween ride in Indiana we were going to do, but now we cannot due to my fainting.
If you want to make more costumes, my boys need them.

Nanci- I am sorry to hear about Precious Roy. At least he survived, and is well loved. Your daughter should not blame herself, but I understand.

Queen- good for you for getting rid of all that stress! Happy job hunting, wishing you all the best.

    Dove Chocolate "fortunes"

There are two bags of little Dove chocolates on the staff table at work. I helped myself <eh-hem>.

My fortunes (printed on the inside of the wrappers) were:
    1. Follow your instincts.
    2. When two hearts race, both win.

    Hmm. Nothing about bicycles.

CWR- Santa is me. I have yet to be surprised for Christmas, It would be nice one year to find my stocking filled by someone other than me. Oh well at least I know what I like.

Knot-I am impressed, there is no way I could only eat two.
Very nice fortunes. The second one definitely could be read as cycling and romance of course. Is there any romance in the air?

Nanci - Of course I got the red! (Not that I had any choice in the matter on a sale bike, but I'd have taken go-faster red if I had - pale blue is far too subtle.)
