I'm not really a sweets person, but on Monday I went to this chocolate place in Oakland (Bittersweet, in Rockridge, for anyone who knows the area) and I got this dark chocolate that has some chipotle chile in it - wow - was it good! But it's going to take me ages to get through! Anybody want some?

Mr. Fish was up until about 2:30 last night (this morning). He looked a bit rough at 6am when I left. He said he could hear his pulse when he layed down in bed last night, but that he was feeling a bit better this morning.

I'm turning in my job application today - wish me luck! I should hopefully hear something by the end of June/early July. I'm sooooo bad at waiting!

Ha! Except we have a slight distribution problem! I can try scanning it...

It's funny - this place has a whole wall of different chocolate bars, and instructions on how to fully appreciate the chocolate: "break it - listen for the clear 'snap'; rub it with your thumb to release the flavor, notice the hint of almonds, curry and sea salt", etc.

    What did I miss?

Why is Mr. Fish so jittery????

Nanci - One of my favorite dinners is microwave popcorn and a bottle of wine. Sounds like we really shouldn't meet one another....

    Bittersweet - http://www.bittersweetchocolatecafe.com/

    Rockridge: 5427 College Avenue
looks like they have an SF store as well at 2123 Fillmore Street

Ahh yes - popcorn and wine... a guilty secret! Although last night I actually cooked a yummy dinner of hot Italian sausage (chicken), brocolli rabe with garlic, and pasta - all mixed together - yum - and a glass (ok, a glass and half!) of 1997 Matanzas Creek cab. It was a "break-up" bottle from my housemate's ex-boyfriend and she just wanted to get rid of it... not your typical Tuesday night wine!

Instructions for how to appreciate chocolate?

How's about we gals show up after a ride, hand the note accross the counter to the clerk "give me the chocolate and no one gets hurt"

And the cab is from the same housemate's ex-boyfriend who gave her the break up car? I'm breaking up with the wrong people.

Mr. Fish is jittery from the dexamethasone shot he got from the doc because he reacted in a nasty, rashy, blistery way to cutting a fig tree down. He's finally over the jitters and is super sleepy.

Job application is in!!! Now the waiting begins.

I like popcorn and chocolate. For special occasions I make popcorn covered in dark chocolate and white chocolate. Yummmmmmm.

I thought popcorn was supposed to combine well with champagne/sparkling wine.

Another combination I like is any red/pretzels.

I heard, if you are worried about calories, and want wine and cheese and crackers, leave out the crackers!

I saw my neighbor out in the yard, so I brought KoKo and Buttercup over to introduce them, and to explain that, if he saw me, apparently sitting out in the middle of the (5 acre) yard, drinking wine, every everning, that I was actually taking the small torts, which he wouldn't be able to see, out to graze. He says "Well, that wouldn't seem strange to me, anyway."

Great movie combo- popcorn and Snowcaps!!

My daughter actually has two children. She got pregnant when she was 18 and did not keep the baby, but hand-picked adoptive parents who bring him to visit her and all up North relatives frequently, even though they live in Illinois and she is in Minnesota. Then, a couple years ago, she calls me to say "Mom, I'm getting married!" I say "Why, are you pregnant?" She says "Yes, but that's not why!" Married in June, baby in August (during Hurricane Charlie, the first of THREE that year). I got to go up to see him, and meet my son-in-law, who is absolutely PERFECT- I love Kelly dearly, of course, but I don't know how she scored such a wonderful husband...He continues to be perfect and they continue to be a blissful little family two years later, having recently purchased their first home for $5000 (!!!!!!!!??????????)

I gave a man with a sob story about $7 last night, when I was in the parking lot, alone, waiting for the ride to begin. He said it was for a hose in his girlfriend's car, but I wonder if it was for alcohol...He seemed so grateful and sincere and God Bless You...I told him to just pass on the kindness when he gets the chance. I NEVER give money to people. My punishment was not eating dinner with the group.

I just look at it as entertainment tax. If they tell me a good story, I give them some money. People who really would need money for this or that would seriously be way too embarrassed to ever ask a stranger for it. IMHO.

Cool about your son-in-law. I hope that folks will soon be saying, "I have no idea how Lise scored such a great guy, but she did!"
