Henry has finally eaten a small amount of wet food. He also drank some more water. I took him to his box and he peed. I don't think he has a urinary blockage. He is a hypochondriac himself so I am trying to remain calm. It's just so emotionally exhausting.

Mimi and friends, I wish I could claim that was an original, but DH was sharing some Jens Voigt jokes from another board and the pajamas thing stuck with me.

    Superman wears Jens Voigt pajamas.

When Jens' watch is off, the space-time continuum adjusts itself.

That sort of thing. I'm glad Don is home and doing so much better. Here's to a complete and speedy recovery.

Indy, I don't have any advice about your cat -- the one who lives in our house can go days without showing her face outside my daughter's room and sometimes I completely forget about her. I hope Henry gets better soon, though.

Indy, sounds like a hairball issue to me. Have you tried this malt flavored goop? http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...fm?pcatid=2963

I haven't tried that. We've never had hairball issues before, at least not with Henry.

Not today he hasn't. I'm not overly sure about yesterday. With two cats, it's not always easy to tell. He's starting to show a bit more life, but hd also keeps retreating to his private hiding spots. If he's anything short if normal, he's off to the vet tomorrow. I have to be judicious about going to the vet. It stresses Henry out really badly, and upon his return, our other cats freaks out for at least 24 hours because she doesn't recognize him.

As I was writing this, Henry jumped up on my lap and started meowing and making biscuits. That's a good sign!!!

Glad to hear about a good sign from Henry! It is so hard with furbabies because we can't ask them anything, or explain what that person with the sharp objects is doing.

I am feeling a bit down tonight. My neck and base of skull hurts. I am in bed as it is "bedtime" and the alarm goes off in 7 hours, but this will be a rough night.

Mimi -- Such great news about Don. Whatta guy, baking a pie. Woo-hoo! Happy for you both!

Dear tiny little biting ants I keep managing to step on or get on my hand outdoors, STOP IT! Just stop biting me! I am tired of taking Benedryl so I can sleep at night without waking up numerous times to scratch.

    Dear Self,

I know that the knitting store is a black hole of common sense. Please brace yourself, scurry in and out quickly, and do not be tempted by the hand dyed merinos near the door. While financial ruin by yarn purchase doesn't sound Soooo bad, it definitely is bad.

    Thank you,
    Self.

hehehe, been here, done that at the needlework store - in my pre-bike addiction days. Have PLENTY of things to work on lo these 2 years later if I can stay off my bikes long enough to pick up a needle.

Slept terribly last night, however my neck does feel better today. I just over-did things last night. I can lift weights, or I can go to spinning class. Not both in the same evening

Hmmmm. I thought you learned that lesson during last year's overuse injury!

Henry visited the vet yet again today. Nothing was obviously wrong with him. No fever, no constipation, no obstructions. His most recent bloodwork in October. showed no signs of diabetes, kidney disease or hyperthyroidism. Given his history of mystery illnesses, the vet suggested doing some additional tests in a couple of weeks, i.e., when he's recovered from what's currently ailing him. The first would be a blood test to look for a certain type of bacterium. The second would be a biopsy of his gut. The doc wonders if he might have IBD or colitis. The doctor admitted, though, that it was a bit of guesswork on his part as Henry is a conundrum. He gets really sick for no apparent reason and then promptly returns to his old self. Assuming he doesn't get cancer or kidney disease, I otherwise see no reason why he can't live a long life, but that life might include some bumps along the way. He just seems to a be a sensitive cat.

I can totally understand that. The last time I went yarn shopping was for stuff for presents for my parents. (Okay, they're not getting done for a long time--I just wrap the yarn, put a note on it and then work at my own pace.) It turned into "Okay, now that I've gotten the stuff for Dad's socks, and Mom's scarf (with an extra just in case), there's all this other stuff that's on sale..." I think I ended up with an additional four pairs of socks' worth.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

It was a test The workout itself was quite light, and I've been taught/learned what I can do that won't overly stress my neck but still do me some good. I've always done both on Mondays during spinning season...guess I will now need to do weights on Sunday and not Monday for now...

Indy, is it possible that Henry has some kind of odd food allergy? Have you changed his food or have the kitty food company changed the ingredients? That is probably reaching, but I do wonder.
