This gives me flashbacks to last years race.... I could hardly stand the 8 minutes to spare while I was standing there praying!!!!

Well, I had an extra beer for you cuz! I know that the wind will help you sail along....Staying up til midnight for the final report....

    Bad News from IMAZ.....

It is with great regret and a heavy heart that I have to report that Denise had to pull off the course.......;-( She just called me because she knew that we would all worry. She had to stop running at the Third Loop, due to being unable to continue ...she would have to make up 10 minutes somewhere and found that the wind was too much from the bike. She would get ill whenever she tried to run...and at that pace would be pulled from the course and not make the midnight cutoff.

She is very disappointed--and feels that she has such great support that it was a tough (but smart) decision to make.

I for one--want to say how proud that I am that she made such a valiant effort and gave it her all. Her bike time was better than last year--and if the Wind God's would have pulled it out...she'd have made it. So---cheers Denny! We all love you...and we are ALL very PROUD of you...

    Love to all---Terre

IronDenise, you did great. It was a tough course with tough conditions, and you did what your body told you was right. Better to be safe and not finish than finish injured and miserable. Mother Nature might have won this time, but there will always be an opportunity for a rematch.

Congratulations on an awesome job -- rest well, you've earned it.

I can attest to that wind!

Denise, I am an infrequent lurker from Mesa, AZ and posted a couple times, but just wanted to add my (((HUGS))). I did just 35-mi on my bike today and it felt like 2X that amt., so I can't imagine doing 112 in that. You rock anyway girl!

I'm signing up for next years race, so I'll be out there with you...b/c you will do it again right???

    Denise,

You were a winner when you pulled on your wetsuit this AM. We're all very proud of you. You put in so much work and achieved so much in your training. It was a really tough day and it wasn't in the cards for you to finish this year. But you've shown us all what it means to be Iron.

    And you are Iron.

Denise, I am so sorry you had to make that decision. You will come out of it stronger. And if all else fails, HE still loves you:

    Denise,

You never cease to amaze me.. You're one strong willed woman & proved it today. Who knows who you've inspired to do an Ironman I'm sure this won't be your last attempt.

Here's to IMAZ 08 or even IM WA 08!

You're still IRON and you're still an inspiration to us all!!!

And how many people could make it as far as you did with the crappy weather out there- even the pros said it was miserable.

Here's to next year - we know you'll be back!
