    Intro

Real name: not online. Just another Fred

Where do you live? Mid-Atlantic, they tell me. Some people call it "the TriState" but I think everyone lives in some kind of tri-state area. Then again, we could call it the Mole-hills, because they aren't really mountains!

Explanation of your handle: Back in the saddle after 20 years, I was derailed for some time.

Explanation of your avatar: I have not yet chosen one

Age (general or specific) near enough to 40 that I'm OK with it.

Occupation: I guess you could call me an artist.

Favorite bike: still looking for it

    What's in your stable?
Raleigh Technium, ( too big )
    Raleigh Seneca, ( errand/full loader )
Cannondale SR800, ( new to me, hurts )
Giant Rincon ( for guests )

Fastest speed on a road bike? I don't recall

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I don't have photos, sorry. I should probably get some for insurance's sake.

Most memorable moment on my bike:
My first ride, Dad running behind me, then he stopped, and I didn't!
My last ride, when the car stopped, and so did I.

Most fun I've ever had on my bike:
Honestly, some of the breakdowns where I needed a friend or relative to rescue me hours from home wound up being some of the best days. Country roads for hours, nice lunch with people I like, and a relaxing visit on the way home.
There was also a wonderful midnight ride from campus to a nearby city late at night in which I "D"d a Mavic and had to whump all the way back to the dorms.
Snow rides are also a great joy.

    Real name: Stacie

Where do you live? Metro Atlanta, GA

Explanation of your handle: I used to hate pink growing up, but after I graduated from college, I kinda fell in love with it for no particular reason. Now I have tons of pink stuff from clothes to bike bling!

Explanation of your avatar: Right now it's just my new Orbea baby that I brought home just last week.

    Age:
    30

    Occupation: Small business owner

Favorite bike: I'm fairly new to the sport, so I don't have a particular brand that I love over any others. However, from my countless test rides I can tell you that Orbea is one of the most comfortably smooth (& fast!) rides of them all!

What's in your stable? 2009 Orbea Onix Dama TDF and a 2009 Gary Fisher HiFi Deluxe GS (on order from the LBS).

Fastest speed on a road bike? Where? When? I'll have to get back to that one considering that I just started the sport, and I'm a big baby when it comes to cold weather .

Another picture of yourself or your ride?
No pics of me on my ride yet, but I'm sure they'll be some in the near future since I'm planning on a couple of centuries and charity rides this year.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told? That's classified!

Most memorable moment on my bike: How about a Big Wheel? Do those count? I just remember hot as hell summers in Miami, FL growing up when I would take my Strawberry Shortcake Big Wheel out into the driveway and sit under my Big Wheel Car Wash for hours...ahh, to be a kid again!

Most fun ever had on a bike: Blasting past guys that think a girl can't possibly be in better shape then them!

    Getting to Know You

    Real name: Georgia
Where do you live? Winston-Salem, NC

Explanation of your handle: People have always called me Georgia Peach now and again since I was a kid. The other thing people say is "where's Georgia on My Mind." You get the idea...

Explanation of your avatar: working on this

    Age (general or specific): 35
    Occupation: physician

Favorite bike: hopefully will purchase it soon...TBD

What's in your stable? an old steel Diamondback (first road bike) and a cheap Trek mountain bike.

Fastest speed on a road bike? dunno.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? will work on this...

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I am a horrible liar, I don't even bother as people can see right through me!

Most memorable moment on my bike: I had many and they all surround the many, many rides with one of my best friends, Michelle. She got me into biking in medical school and our long rides in the country side really helped to keep us sane and grounded. Once, we took our bikes down to Southern Pines and had a wonderful day biking 65 miles through the sandhills.

Most fun ever had on a bike? It is all fun to me!

Where do you live? Loch Lomond, Scotland, UK

Explanation of your handle: I actually do love the turbo

Explanation of your avatar: It's my old Giant mtb on the trainer in my garage

    Age: 26

    Occupation: research engineer

Favorite bike: I really like the old trek team bikes with the discovery channel livery.

What's in your stable? 1996 Giant Boulder 550 and a 2004 Trek 5200 (but I bought it 2nd hand so it's new to me!)

Fastest speed on a road bike? Where? When? Fastest I have a record of is a photo of me going thru an unofficial speed camera at 23mph on a borrowed mtb - we decided to race when we found it, lol. Been faster since but not with photos!

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Nothing yet but I'll get to it...

What is the biggest lie you've ever told? Umm...

Most memorable moment on my bike: finding out the hard way my freehub was broken and being very very very grateful not to have been further past the bus I was trying to overtake at the time!

Most fun ever had on a bike: standing on the crossbar while holding onto the handlebars "surfing" as a kid. Wouldn't dream of doing it now, but it was so much fun at the time!

Where do you live? Auckland, NZ

Explanation of your handle: My other significant ride is a tandem, and I'm the stoker

Explanation of your avatar: DH and I zooming along

    Age: 31

    Occupation: Marketing

Favorite bike: Big Red, our Trek T2000 tandem

What's in your stable? 2008 Ruby Expert, Avanti Blade Elite (hybrid) and the above mentioned tandem (plus DH's bikes)

Fastest speed on a road bike? Where? When?
103km/hr (64 m/hr) down a hill in south Auckland on the tandem in April 08. Silly speed I know but it is a country road with little traffic and good uphill run out and the long wheel base of the tandem makes it very stable (no speed wobbles).

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Nothing recent sorry!

What is the biggest lie you've ever told? Lots of little ones but nothing big.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Not a nice one but flying over the handlebars face first into a speed hump going downhill. I smashed my shoulder joint very badly and now have metal ware. My arm and shoulder are still recorvering 7 months later.

Most fun ever had on a bike: Coming third tandem in a 90km race in which we caught the previous winning tandem (they had a puncture) and held on to them at 45km/hr for 3km before they spat us off and came 2nd. They are a very fast and fit team so just holding their tail for that long was an achievement. It's so fun to go past people downhill on the tandem, especially when we are not pedalling and they are... the look on their faces!

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 29 - going down a steep hill

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I don't have very many pixs of myself - I hate having my pix taken

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I told my kids at school that I was in a rock and roll band. I was playing a CD on my computer of Jerry Lee Lewis and I told them I was the piano player. They believed me!!

Most memorable moment on my bike: I live near the Okefenokee Swamp - I was riding around the loop in the swamp and looked down my leg and there was a cottonmouth lying as I was pedalling my right foot down. Its mouth was wide opened. I about died, literally and figuratively

Most fun ever had on a bike? I did a Mardis Gras ride in St. Marys, Georgia. It was rainy and extremely windy. I always call it the best worst ride ever. I was soaked and boy was it cold. However, after I got finished, I got a deep tissue massage which made it all worth it!

Most memorable moment on my bike: After I sold my horse and made my husband take me down to the local little bike shop to buy my first real bike since I was a kid. Couldn't keep me off the bike once I got my bike balance back.

Most fun ever had on a bike? That's a tough one, I've had so many. Probably that first bike ride down the street after I got my little mountain bike home and did my first mile -- I was thrilled!

    Real name: Lesa

Where do you live? N. Illinois, almost in Wisconsin

Explanation of your handle: Long story. The heif refers to a joke between me and a friend of mine, and the zilla is because I tend to go crazy researching, and getting into a topic I'm interested in.

Explanation of your avatar: That would be my bike

    Age (general or specific): 38

    Occupation: Vet tech

Favorite bike: I love my Raleigh, but I don't have experience with any others to compare

    What's in your stable? 1998(99?) Raleigh SC-200

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Never been on a "road" bike. I also tend to pootle, so really fast for me is about 17 mph.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Biggest? Not sure. I try not to tell huge lies. White lies, sure, they're part of life.

Most memorable moment on my bike: After my first 10+ mile ride. I was riding on the stock saddle and it wasn't good for me (I didn't realize it then but my sit bones were straddling the sides of it). Combined with the fact that I hadn't been on a bike in years...I literally couldn't walk. The fact that I ever go back on my bike says a lot.

Most fun ever had on a bike? I enjoy pretty much everytime I get on my bike, especially when I am riding with my husband. I don't have a "most fun" moment that I can remember, though.
