Actually, come to think of it, a temporary tat would be fun to freak my boss out with.On the other hand, if she didn't freak out, then I know I could get the real thing AND keep my job! OK! Make my vote for looking like the real thing.

Me too! I vote for looks like a tatoo, not a picture. I would get one for my 70 year old mom, too. She just recently cut way back on her cycling!![]()

I would totally be interested in a bike chain tatoo that looks like a real tatoo! That would be so much fun!! In fact, I can think of a few of the guys I ride with that might want one as well....![]()
I'd like to have one to freak out my students! I have a couple of actual tatts, but in places that only DH and I get to see. But this chain tattoo would be a fun thing to wear so it's plainly visible.

I'm voting for tattoo-style, too, because after wearing them enough, one could decide if they wanted to get a real one and have an accurate mental image...

I actually joined the forum because I was searching for bike chain tattoos and this thread came up! I've just started biking again, and rode my first 1/2 century (almost - 48 miles, 2 summits!) a week ago! I am riding on my mountain bike (no road bike yet) with no pedal clips and I have scars on my right leg from getting clipped by the spiky pedals... enough that I joked I should get a tattoo around my ankle to hide themThen I started thinking how cool a bike chain tattoo would be, and that I should get one after I ride my first century - maybe next year
And of course, temporary would be perfect!
Do you still have them?
Actually I got one that was a glittery gear stack with LRRH in the middle as a temp tatoo the evening before at the dinner. Maybe they sold out-
On the first cross country I did, one of the ladies had a whole book of tear out bike related temporary tatoos that she periodically passed around. She couldn't or wouldn't remember where she got it, but I could see a whole business there.
I would buy a bunch of temporary tatoos bike chains anytime just to stuff my stocking, and to have on hand for fun times.

I would wear a temporary bike chain tattoo around my neck as a chocker and maybe have the tail end look like it was falling down into my cleavage! This is Portland after all and I already stand out among the youth oriented bike crowd due to lack of piercings and tattoos (also no beard.....that's an observation- lots of facial hair with the bike crowd).

I get a bike chain tattoo nearly every time I ride!![]()
I get one almost every time I ride, too. But I've been riding for 6 years, so it's not a novice thing- it's a right foot clipping out thing. Most people I know unclip with their left foot down- I put my right foot down (since I'm left side dominant) so it's on the drivetrain side and therefore more apt to get tattooed.
I would LOVE to get a chainring tattoo (permanent- not just temporary).

I'd want it to bend around a bit, like my usual Chain Stain. I think it's a cool idea.

Yes, my right calf seems to get most of my greasy chain tattoos!
@radacrider, your tattoo is beautiful!

I've often thought that for the long-distance tourers among us, a permanent bike chain tattoo with the name of each state (or country) you toured through would be appropriate. My chain would be embarrassingly short, sadly enough.
As for the temporary tattoos, I'd enjoy having a book of them. Sometimes, you just need a bike chain necklace with the free end heading south. (Love that idea)
