That Thor will SMASH blog is pretty funny - I just read the prologue review, and I was chuckling even though I don't know what the heck he's talking about most of the time.*

    * (Confession: I don't know ANYTHING about professional cycling, although some of those cyclist's names sound familiar... )
    Keep calm and carry on...

Considering the verb tense used was "will smash" rather than "did smash" or "didn't smash", this thread didn't strike me as a spoiler. I just figured snapdragen is a Thor fan and was excited by the prospect of smashing.

Tour day Schmalz has got to be the funniest thing I've read in a loooong time. "Floyd misses his start time – are you kidding me? Probably drops a few seconds, nothing major. Was he doing Jello shots with Briske?" Is it just me, or does Bobke keep pronouncing Dave's name "Zabrewski"? Oh, and apparently Floyd missed his start time because of a tire change.

Too bad it's not in the archives anymore, but on Dave Z's website there used to be one of his one-question-interviews with Thor. DZ asked Thor how it felt to have the coolest name in the peloton. If I recall correctly, Thor had no clue that his name was cool.

Man, this tour's turning out to be tons of fun already, in spite of how awful yesterday's upheaval was.

Yeah,I was real gutted; but after a 4 hour ride in the morning I'd got some perspective and by 3 pm (1 hour before Eurosport's coverage was due to start) I was looking forward to it and thinking that it would be w-i-d-e open now and some really new guys would have a chance.
Even when everyone was saying in past years that Lance was a foregone conclusion I would think "Yeah, but he still has to *ride* it"
So it still is - they will all have to ride it; km after km,day after day till Paris

It's still the most amazing thing
and the best man will still win

    and I will still say

What more do you-all want ; I already told you my biggest secret : that I can't do up my bra from the back
But as for riding stories from my petit Tour de France 1982...

I've never read the Tour Schmalz. I love it.

We cheer for Thor in this household. Could be because 4 out of 5 of us are Norwegian. Those Norwegians aren't hard on the eyes. Probably why I married one.

Okay, is there something wrong with my browser or my brain? I can only seem to get to Schmalz's posting for the prologue. How do I get to the following stages?

    Thanks!

The Schmalz page listing the Tour stages does seem to be funny. If you go to www.nyvelocity.com, you can then click on the most current Tour day Schmalz link. Enjoy!

Oops see I read that all wrong. Sorry I though you were commenting on the humour factor. I think I need to get a bit more sleep.

Sorry, I should have worded that differently. If I had been commenting on the humour factor, I would have said something more like you did:
    Funny?? Bl**dy hilarious I think.
Thanks for getting us all hooked on Schmalz, snapdragen. Has anyone else noticed that each day's spoiler posts contain as many comments on Schmalz's commentary as on the more "official" Tour sites?
