On Monday I leave for Washington DC on a Bus with 50 of my sons friends! I am in the process of filling my MP3 for the 9 hour ride. I need new material! What would you bring? I like most music and am very open to all but Rap. I have tried, but I just don't dig it!

Try Marc Broussard. It has kind of a sort of bluesy r&b sound to it. It's difficult to explain - but really good music.

Bikecast, Bike Talk, Grape Radio, Zen and the Art of Triathlon, Endurance Sports Radio- tons of them!! Lots of NPR stuff.

Podcasts are a great idea for when you get tired of the music and just want someone to talk to you about interesting things. The Onion does some good political satire.
Musically, I'm a fan of the rock classics: the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix. But I also love Emmylou Harris and Mark Knopfler.

Road music for me equals alt-country stuff that makes me picture a long pale highway and me in my car rocking out.
Nothing does it better than Lucinda Williams and Kathleen Edwards.

I'd rather listen to Bill Bryson's "A Walk In The Woods" for hours at a time than just about anything, even though I've heard it so many times I have it memorized. It's my traditional road-trip entertainment.

I think Lucinda Williams is a great road music choice - especially the CD called "Lucinda Williams", and my current fave, "Essence".
