Wow! You're awsome! And such an asset to this group! For a newbie like me, your achievements seem impossible, but the Cinderella seemed impossible in December, so...who knows what one can do with dedication and training.
Looking forward to your next ride report!!
Thanks! You know I've reread some of my old posts and in some of them I talked about never doing something like this. But here I am.Originally Posted by carimail

Congratulations Veronica. What a wonderful accomplishment. Your post will be in my mind during my first century in May. Without you and all the other ladies on this board, I don't think I would be thinking of doing a century myself.
Keep up all the wonderful posts.

Ditto from me!!! And I'm v. glad that your 'wickedly expensive' shorts stood up to the test.
13 hours on the road, a double C, thats over 300ks, totally awesome!
You rock V.!
Hooray! 1 down and 2 to go to your Triple Crown. I'm so impressed that you weren't physically beat.
V- Your perserverence is an inspiration! AND the part I like the best, is some of the guys we were sure of, dropped out! Of course Robert had a good excuse. But what about Rand? I hear he didn't do the whole course either.
This just tells me about your determination and you stick-to-itness no matter what!
2 more doubles AND you'll be the TRIPLE CROWN QUEEN! WhoooooooooooHoooooooooooo!![]()

So I just wanna be sure I understand this:
You did 200 miles in 13 hours,
that works out to 100 miles in 6 1/2 hours, and you wanna go faster?? Schukie dern my child - I wanna do a Century in 6 1/2 hours, a double isn't even In my picture frame!!
Congrats on your ride, congrats on your time and congrats on your dedication! You deserve kudos in all 3 areas!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

Funny, I was just reading a book by Marla Strebb (down-hiller) who was saying the exact same thing. I believe she _did_ escape her "real" job as a research scientist to become a professional MTBer, in her 30's!

The most effective way to do it, is to do it.

2005 Trek 5000 road/Avocet 02 40W
2006 Colnago C50 road/SSM Atola
2005 SC Juliana SL mtb/WTB Laser V
What an accomplishment. I hope to do HALF of that feat someday!
A liitle late in saying this, but congratulations, V.! Onward through the rain and wind, we all know which is the tougher sex!
Please forgive me, I can't resist:
YOU ROCK !!!!
Thanks you made me laugh.
The last day and a half have been tough. I woke up Monday morning at 1:30 with another one of those stupid stones in my salivary gland. I look like a chipmunk - but only on one side. And it hurts so much to eat. And of course I'm still starving from Saturday (well at least I was yesterday.)
Today I'll get back on the bike and hopefully the increased blood flow will encourage the stone to float away.
V.
V- A stone in your salivary gland? Never heard of this before. Any idea of what causes this malady?
I hope riding helps! Good luck- it was pouring when I came to work today and it was all coming from YOUR direction!
