What an incredible post...thanks for taking me on your ride! I lived in that area just over a year ago and know Fountain Hill, but you lost me after that. Sheesh, I think I need a nap after that adventure! Thanks again for the post.

thanks for the kind words and smiles!

Yeah, I'm in Arizona. I started in Phoenix and went through Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, and Queen Creek :-D. As for food, I had cliff bars and Probars in a pack on my back along with calcium and electrolyte supplements and my electrolyte drink mixes.

trek, by all means go for it! My first century was done in a similar spirit, though I don't recommend this kind of timing to most people. I worked a typical 8 hour day, and during lunch stocked up on goodies. then after work, I proceeded to rack up 100 miles through the city complex before getting home and in bed at a late 2am (I had to leave for work at 7am the next day!). Still, those are fun, you can set the pace with no worries except whatever max time you set for yourself that you want to be out.

Geonz, don't know too much about wattage yet, but fun stuff! anyway! how was that kind of time trial set up?

Now I really feel like a slacker! You are such an inspiration. Thanks for telling us about it, and keep the stories coming! I may just do my first city century next year...but I doubt it will begin after a full day of work. On my 45th birthday, I rode 40 miles around the city. (I know, I know, where's the other five miles...? So it goes.)
