Here's a bike I've been lusting after,of course that was BEFORE I test rode the Trek Pilot 5.2
Is it silly to feel like even THINKING about a road bike is being UNFAITHFUL to my Little Navigator that Could??
At least I'm keeping it in the [Trek] family
I'm trying to get the pics to show the same size, but for some reason, it's NOT cooperating.

no clippless yet! though clipsand spds came with the bike...so clipless is not far off.
I just want this rain to stop so I can RIDE! My fundraising team is riding on Sunday, so pray for no rain!

ohhh Mary - with the miles you're putting on, you are gonna LOVE a road bike. And nah, my first "get back into riding" bike was the Trek Navigator 200. I still have her and she sure looks purty sitting there! I'll use her this winter when the weather gets dicey but other than that, she just sits there! Bikes are like dogs - they have unconditional love! Your Lil Navigator that Could will always be there for you!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

thanks everyone, I don't see the new bike in the real near future, it's mainly a pipe dream. I would definitely keep the Little Navigator that could for just tooling around on. Of course a suggestion was made that perhaps when I get more fit and on a road bike that I would have a young padawan at my side on the Navigator having turned the reigns over to a new cyclist. Since she was a gift basically as being paid out of layway by an anonymous donor, I kind of like the thought of paying it forward that way.

Exactly. I passed on the rusty old Schwinn that I fixed up and rode all over town the first summer I was riding. I told the girl I gave it to that she was welcome to pass it on to someone else when she could afford a better bike.

Here in Chicago there's a shop called Urban Bikes. The owner scours the alleys for bikes and parts, and accepts donations. He has a summer clinic in which he teaches kids how to fix up bikes. At the end of the session, they get to keep the bike they've fixed up, and they've got some money-making skills in bike repair. I suggested she pass the Schwinn on to them when she's done. Bikes are remarkable things...there's a midwife in Mali who saves lives with a bicycle ambulance she's rigged up...well, I'm preaching to the choir here!
Mary, you and I know what a transformation was started when we first pushed those pedals down. To help somebody else find this way of life is incredible.

Wow! Thank you Mary and Lise for giving me an idea! I hope to hold on to my Marin Larkspur for awhile, but if I find that I'm not riding it, I'll donate it to Trips for Kids.
