I get the smalls from Ergon and it works fine for me. I would think that the "small" size would probably work fine for most women. Some of their bar ends are very short though, so you need to be careful. I would suggest calling your area LBS and see if they might have something in stock that you can look at. Nothing beats putting your hand around it before buying it.

I actually emailed Ergon about these about a year ago. They gave me a specific measurement that I do not recall. However they stated that the 'small' size fits most people, especially women, and the 'large' are for very large hands. My husband and I have the 'small' size on our Crosstrails. Hope this info helps.

This makes sense, they don't "look" small...

Thanks for this info! I was just looking at these in the bike shop last week. I don't really have a problem with numb hands but I would like some more position options. I am in the minority in that I prefer flat bar bike even though I have ridden a drop bar road bike on and off for years.

After sleeping on it, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a steel bike.

Next time I get a chance to go to the LBS, I'll try out the Jamis Satellite Sport road bike and then decide between it and the Coda.

Maybe I'll use the difference in bike weight as a good incentive to lose a couple pounds of my own weight

Good call! I luuuv my steel bike

And a big +1 to everyone who recommended drop bars, especially at longer distances. I ride bikes with drop bars almost everywhere....work, errands, my fun road rides, etc. IME, it's not an issue as long as the bike fits.

ETA: Just looked at the Jamis Satellite Sport specs. With those long-reach brakes, it looks like it would have plenty of room for a wider tire for around town or rough roads. And I love that it comes with 25mm tires, not 23s

So... I listened to what you guys said, tried out some new bikes, and... got none of the ones I discussed in this thread! haha!

Instead, I got a KHS Flite 220 road bike. I think the one I ended up with is a women's, but heck, it fit great when I was test riding it, and then they did a short fitting session and it feels even better now. So now I'm super excited to be back on a bike again finally. Thanks for all your help; it really made a difference.

I believe this is it: http://www.khsbicycles.com/05_flite_220l_10.htm

I thought I set it as my forum picture, but I guess I'll have to try again.

    Thanks!
