Oops I Did it Again (and I don't mean the song)

A. I ordered some knee pads but I don't like them - they're heavy and very bulky and I can't get them to fit right (could be my fault for strapping them on). Any ideas of links, brand names, etc of where to look for them? I didn't see any of them in the lbs/testorone shop

There are so many choices. I have 661 4x4's which aren't made anymore. There's hardshell, soft shell, neoprene, full coverage, just front coverage.....

One thing to be carefull of with the front coverage ones is that the straps can chafe.

they are 661's that strap in the back and across the top and bottom and they chafe BAD. They are hard shell and they hurt where I gashed my knee open which is what I'm trying to protect. Any ideas on what type and style?? And a good website to get them at?

I got out in the woods mt biking on Saturday with my boyfriend. It was our first off road ride together and I was hoping to pedal fast, no crashes, etc. We weren't 5 minutes into the ride when we had a steep shale descent. He was flying ahead of me and my helmet, which is too big and I forgot my bandana, was bouncing down into my eyes. I jerked my head back to move the helmet and my front wheel washed out on me - right at the bottom of the hill! I was down before I could blink. My right forearm took the brunt of the fall and is all road rash. My cheek bone and nose are bruised and rashed and so is my shoulder and my leg is badly bruised, welted and scraped up.

I have a couple of questions. Even though I didn't hit my helmet directly, do I still need to replace it? I do have a two strikes rule and since it's my second big crash, somethings going!!

I would use this as an excuse to get a helmet that fits. That way you won't have to worry about whether or not you have a bandana handy, and it will be more likely to protect you in a crash.
