no ride for me this weekend. DH and I wert on a 4 day backpacking trip. It was so pretty. The alpine wild flowers were beautiful as always. Each day we hiked about 7 or so miles. It was nice to get away from everything. The weather was beautiful, the only downside to the trip was the mosqutioes.

I forgot they changed the group ride to an earlier time due to the heat....so got there late instead of early. This got me out of order for the morning so instead of riding with one group I road sweep with the 15 mile group.

I actually realised just as we were putting wheels down my water bottles were on the trunk of my car....good place for them!

Anyway it was a good ride for me since I had a open water swim clinic after riding. I shaved off several minutes off my fastest 1/2 mile swim and I thought I was slower then dirt!

All in all a great day start to finish!

The hubby and I took a break from racing and rode up Hurricane Ridge (in the Olympic state park in Washington) instead this Sunday. Just poking around on the net looking at reports from other people who've ridden it and what pops up nearly first in my search? A blog post by our own Biciclista, who rode her Bianchi up a few years ago.

It's one heck of a ride around 5400 feet of pretty much unrelenting climbing (there's one tiny section of down - maybe all of 200 meters) over 17 miles. From mile 6 on the road was all redone just last year and is in beautiful shape. On the way down we had a truck and a van pull over to let us go by
