    Recruiting Positive Thoughts!

    Hello!

DH wrecked in a crit race on Saturday. It was raining, there was a less than 90 degree angle turn, a guy crashed in front of him, and he swerved to miss the crash. Unfortunately, there was a large tree on the side of the road (as in growing onto the road), that DH crashed into. He broke his collarbone, and broke his shoulderblade into a number of pieces. He was taken away from the race in an ambulance (it broke his beautiful carbon Scott in half, literally) to the hospital. They put him in a sling, gave him some pain meds, and sent him on his way.

We saw an orthopedist on Monday, who did more extensive x-rays, and CT scans. The collar bone is not a huge deal (not to underestimate the pain, suffering, and recovery time in a broken collarbone). However, his shoulder is really a disaster, and his actual shoulder has collapsed into his body without a collarbone and shoulder blade to keep it in place. I trust the surgeon, and with some recovery and a whole lot of physical therapy, I really believe that george will be back on his bike (though we have both agreed that crits in the rain are probably not worth the risk!).

All of this leads to surgery tomorrow. It going to take about 4 hours, and though I am trying to stay positive, it is pretty terrifiying. Please send your thoughts towards Atlanta

Oh, Scott is going to give us a nice discount on the new frame. It will be some time until he can ride it on the road, but the Dr. said that he can ride it on the trainer whenever he feels like it (as long as he is sitting up!).

    Thanks everyone!
