Mr. Silver, what a great new bike. Thanks for the pic of you and your bike. A bike looks lonely without a rider nearby.
I already have a better one!

Inaugural ride:
Smokin'!
I bested my personal best on the Tri-Course by 6.25% on my first ride. Last year, my PB was 19.1 mph with drafting; a couple months ago, I bested this at 19.2mph and today I did 20.5mph in windier, hotter, more humid conditions!
I was disappointed with the DuraAce shifters, but a trip to the LBS fixed that and they started to take on "slicing butter" attributes.
The left DuraAce pedal wouldn't lock, so I rode with one DuraAce and one 105...again, a trip to the LBS fixed that.
The guys at the LBS were ecstatic to hear about my speed improvement!
I do have a little discomfort in the minor rhomboids...I'm hoping that's just a matter of getting used to the new geometry...

Congrats on the new ride and your weight loss! And it's always nice when a new purchase is validated by an increased performance (did the bike make you go faster, or did you just ride better because you were happy to have a new bike?) Wishing you many happy miles!
Here's the way I looked at it:
First, I was surprised that my LeMond only weighed 19.4 pounds (combined with me at 165 pounds...184.4 pounds). The Trek is 16.2 pounds so I gained about 1.7% combined weight reduction. I previously thought it weighted 21 pounds...hmmm
So, I suspect that 1.7% is weight reduction (how's that for a dieting incentive) and the balance is technology. I don't attribute any at all to me...I was actually apprehensive setting out on this ride because I was so satisfied with my LeMond Reno...![]()
