Here's a photo for you - this is my daughter waiting to cheer on riders at the Death Ride. It was hailing and raining at the time, thus the umbrella.

Well, I just have to go for a ride this weekend. My chores be damned.

This is what I am working on. I martyred myself regularly so that the house always looked nice and the errands were run and all that other life stuff that gets in the way. But then I realized it's okay to say that after a day of working (or a week of work) that my first priority is getting on the bike. Turns out, I'm still able to keep the house presentable (as long as you don't open the guest room door ) and the world has not fallen apart and I am a much happier (and healthier) person.

That said, it's still hard sometimes to keep that perspective. (Though my hubby has no problem with it )

    Hi Sarah,

It doesn't look like Ebetts, Carson pass??

The sky don't look all the purty. And your riders managed to finish in that weather?? holy molly. One year I rode was like that, I grabbed a trash bag and punched a hole in the bottom for my head and two on the side and I was still drenched and COOOLLLLDDDD.
I threw my towel in that year. brrrrrr...

And thanks for the beautiful shot. Reminds me of home growing up in the mountains of Utah.

Yup, it's between Woodfords and Picketts, on the way up Carson. There was rain and hail (and thunder and lightning). It was pretty awful. She was a darned good cheerleader. It was freaking cold.

I rode that ride two times and I never got through it without a huge downpour! Has anyone ever done it when they did not get rained on and really cold?

All the other times I have done the death ride (2002, 2005, and 2007) it was warm to VERY hot. In 2006 when I coached but couldn't ride, it was rainy and there was hail - that year definitely seemed cold at the end.

Every time we go up for altitude camp (usually first week of June), it is generally quite pleasant.

Mountain weather. You never know. I just know I am never doing that ride again without carrying a shell.

That overworking thing seems to be going around. I'm on a workathon, too. Counting today's shift (starting in 2 hours) I have 3 more to go. By Sunday I should be a raving lunatic.

I've been getting on the trainer. I'd rather be outside, but it's better than nothing.

2001 started out chilly in the morning, but ended up quite nice. That's a DANG long ride, though.
