I work/ride with a group of motorcyclists for the 3-Day Walks, and they do this to me all the time. It's meant to tease, and a sort of sign of solidarity -- we're all cyclists of some sort.
For 3 days, I get to part of a thousand other journeys.

Aliens? From the planet Trek? Actually I'm from a Specialized planet.

I guess because most of my road rides have been organized MS training rides (I usually just ride the levee), I haven't had anything thrown at me. Since our rides are on sunday mornings, I am leary around churches, heaven forbid they're late to church, and DON'T get in the way when church gets out. Like Boy-in-a-Kilt, I have been offered a cold frosty beer on a particularily hot ride. It looked SO tasty. The Bubba, not so much.

Ha! That's the gesture I make when I'm on the MC and a CAR (or a Harley, don't get me started ) ahead of us is going really slow. AKA "You must be pedaling that behemoth since your foot obviously isn't on the gas pedal (or your hand isn't on the throttle)."
