Veronica, I'm probably going to enter my mileage weekly. I, too, don't have much patience and I'm getting "timed out" messages too frequently.

I also will be updating mileage once or twice weekly - I love the site but it's outgrowing its servers at lightening speed. I know Slantz appreciates all the help he can get with funding upgrades. Thanks to everyone who joined the team.

    Great site

Thank you for sharing the bikejournal site. I really like it a lot. I signed up as Sue368. I hope to keep posting my rides there. Maybe this will help me to ride more. I have been slacking off the last few months. Winter blahs. Worst case this year, too! I own two treks. A road bike, 2200 WSD (2002) and a xc full suspension mountain bike, Fuel EX7 WSD (2005 a birthday present from my husband this month). Love both of them.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

    Roar!

    LOL!!
Ya, I have been really kick'n booty lately, and paying for it today....
Yesterday I also did a kickboxing class and today....I only rode to work and back on mountain bike no road biking till tomorrow. I would have more miles if I added my mtb miles on there. I ride to work nearly everyday.

I had to estimate my miles at the beginning (2months) then I got the Cyclocomputer and know that my normal short loop is 13 miles and longer loop is about 21 to 22 depending if I take a detour or not.
I put that I had riden 300 when I started on bike journal for the YTD.
I think it is more but wanted to give myself some credit for my beginning efforts. My husband had me out there pushing hard from the get go. Had to keep up with him somewhat ya know what I mean?!

I have been learning so much from everyone here, I have got thus far due to the advice given to me and others like me. From pedaling as though you are scraping off gum from your shoe to conquering the hill with confidence....nutrition... and sooo much humor to split our guts 1000x over.
Love it here, it gets me through some tough spots. Thank you to all my TE friends!!

I'll bet we reach 50,000 by mid-summer. I don't think some of us have hit full summer stride yet, what with upcoming centuries, charity rides, etc. Shouldn't we have some sort of wonderful reward when we get to our goal? Like banana splits all around? mmmmmm....ice creaammmmm!!!

Hey the STP! That is one event I have yet to do! I have been contemplating it for a few years now. I have friends who have done it and one particular friend, Julia (you go girl) who has done it the last ten years straight!

So . . . are you riding with friends this year Bike Goddess? Did you really enjoy it last year? How was the support? And no . . . I'm not a racer girl. Just a girl who loves to bike!

This just may be the year. That means I will have to start training! Argh! LOL The thing that has always stopped me were the stories about the start. How crowded and dangerous it is. Or are those tales over exaggerations?

Who's all doing it from this forum?

Forgot to ask . . . you're riding to Castle Rock? That's mile 136 I believe. Where are you staying?

Also, who in this forum will be riding in the STP? I am seriously considering doing it this year. Hubby refuses to do it and thinks I'm crazy if I sign up because of all the people (8,000 at the start?) He thinks that's a bit too much. He goes for the more limited events. Like 500-800 limit.

Yes, the plan is ride to Castle Rock. A few people from Benicia are coming up. Some slow, some moderate, some fast riders. Tall Joe and I were just talking about it today. We figured we will probably just hang in there a moderate pace.

Last year I stayed at Castle Rock High in my tent outdoors on the lawn. It was quite comfortable!

Would love to have you come along with us. Even though there are a lot of people, I had no trouble getting through at all. I found a guy to ride with at the 1st rest stop. We rode together until Centralia where he was staying and I rode the rest of the way by myself. This year everyone, even the slow riders, are planning to ride to CR.

Well I'm committed now. I signed up yesterday and sent $15.00 to the Castle Rock High Gym so that I can crash there. I found a friend to ride with. She is very slow so we decided to ride our own pace and meet up in CR. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone from this forum. We'll have to set up a meeting place at CR . . . take a group picture!

My hubby is still undecided. I told him he better hurry up and decide soon because room at CR may fill up fast.

    Totally cool!

CR is very small, we won't have trouble finding each other, thats for sure! Now for training, get some centuries in and you'll be fine on the mileage. Right out of Veeder are some little hills- that was the hardest part for me as I was quite tired by then. Other than that, its just looong ride!

Let's hope for cooler weather this year- it was 100 degrees both days last year with about 95% humidityp. That was the tough part!
