I've got a Cannondale painted in the T-Mobile colors - black with pink flames, and I always wanted to get the jersey to match. I doubt anyone would ever confuse me with a team member! I guess I would be another Glamour Don't. Fashion roadkill, as they say...

I think its fine to wear team jerseys. That's why they are sold to the public - so you can show that you support that team. There are a couple of things where people take it too far though - remember the zebra print bike and outfit that Mario "The Lion King" Cipollini had a couple of years ago? A guy I knew had the bike and the outfit - not a good look (then again who looks good in zebra print?). What i find offensive though is people who wear a jersey that signifies that they are state, national or world champion when they have never earnt such a title. I can't speak for the US, but here in Australia the white jersey with the green and gold rings is for the national champion and there are plenty of other jerseys with the flag or the word Australia written on it for those who want to show support for the national team. Don't wear these special jerseys unless you earn them.

I agree with Aussievic about the jerseys, if you wear something that indicates sprinter, hill climber or whatever, be prepared for the attacks from the bunch that will come with it.

    Unhappy Didn't matter anyway......

Thanks for all of your feedback, unfortunately this whole thread ended up being a moot point as when the jersey got here, it didn't fit and they were out of the other sizes! So I ended up ordering him several "basic" non-team jerseys.

Now he's got three coming instead of the one! He ought to be happy!

    Happy pedaling!
