You'd think I lived in the boonies or something. I've never been to an REI (there's not one in the area).

I had never been to one either until last March when I visited the one in Denver....it was heaven! And yes, I spent way more money than I needed to!

We happened to go to our local REI after seeing the clearance announcement and picked up some good stuff. I bought a couple of light winter half-zips, one plain jane white technical fabric tshirt, a long-sleeved shirt from prana with cool texture/fabric (synthetics), and a snowboard. $400 later...

    Somewhat off-topic but related:

The sizing of the items I bought is bizarre. Extra-small REI tshirt (close fit for undershirt wearing), small and medium half-zips (one REI, one from another brand, fit snug but not tight), large long-sleeved shirt (the Prana, fits very snug but not quite skin tight). WTF? Sizing has to be my pet peeve as of late. At the conference I went to last week, they had unisex jackets, and I had to get the extra small which I am still too small for. They had to go dig it out of a small box in the back of their little cave, where the XXLs were displayed prominently. Pants are driving me nuts, too. ARGH!

    Okay, rant over. REI rocks.

I ordered some socks and a merino sweater from the sale. Projected delivery was the 20th. But according to tracking, it's arrived at my local P.O. today! Happy Valentine's Day to me.
