I'm so grateful that our beloved 15+ year-old German Shorthaired Pointer is enjoying another springtime and walked over a mile with DH today. It's exactly 8 months since we brought her home from doggie ICU and surgery for a malignant insulinoma, and we almost lost her then. Although we recognize that she's on borrowed time, today was a very good day.

I'm grateful for new found strength on hills. Not sure if it's from winter riding (which I hope) or that massive cassette I put on in the fall . Either way, yay!

I'm grateful for the reminder, here, to take time and give thanks for everything that's good in my life, in the midst of all the uproar that's taking my focus.

I'm grateful for all the help I've found here in my quest for a new saddle! The new Lithia is definitely a step in the right direction.

I'm grateful for the little green lizards on my porch - for the bugs they eat, and just for the amusement they give me.

I'm grateful for the coral honeysuckle blooming in my bower.

Since I've moved here my back gate has had a padlock secured to a bolt with a chain. That just keeps honest people honest, as the saying goes. Which meant when I get home I park the car, say "hi" through the gate to the mutt, then walk around to the front.

This caused Mae to whine "where'd she go? She was just here"

I'm grateful for my new back gate lock. Now I can walk right in the back door. And so's Mae.

I'm so grateful to be home in springtime.

For the scent of my apple tree blooming and the sound of the bees buzzing all around it. For the smell of the soil and new-mown grass. The sound of the house wrens singing their tiny little heads off from their nest in my clothesline. The barred owl hooting its hoo-wah call last night - first time I'd heard a barred here in years, since the West Nile virus decimated all the raptors. For the treasure trove of morels I found the other day. The delicate green of trees budding new leaves. The sound of little streams running, frogs peeping. Dogwoods and daffodils, May-apples and Jack-in-the-pulpit.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everything and everyone that allows me to be here now.

I felt the need to revive this thread today, since there seems to be a lot of tension in the air today.

I'm glad my dad's still hanging on. He's one tough cookie. He's lived his life on his terms, with music, love and the greatest joy for life of anyone I know. I hope he gets to go home from the hospital soon (but not too soon, my stepmother needs a break!). He seems to be getting things all wrapped up for a good end to what's been an interesting and fun filled life. He always followed his heart, whether it was the right thing to do or not, and I understand and respect that! It's left him with some regrets, but maybe it's better to have regret for what you did than what you didn't do.

I'm happy to have heard from my long lost half-brother yesterday. We hadn't spoken in 20 years . I was just a kid last time he saw me. We never had a fallout or anything, just circumstances never brought us together until now. Well, I'm glad he's still my brother. We had a good talk. I'm glad he reconciled with our father. He's going to be glad he did, too.

    very cool post, Redrhodie.

I'm grateful I have a nearly-full jar of original chocolate Nutella and a clean spoon. A little moment of primal animal bliss.
