    Real name: Beth
Where do you live? Hudson Valley, NY (Ulster County)

Explanation of your handle: It goes back to having to pick a screen name for AIM in college. At the time, I wanted a blue beetle. Now I see that it's kind of impracticle, especially with the biking addiction (I love my Subaru).

    Explanation of your avatar:
From a t-shirt I was given for Christmas

    Age: 25

    Occupation: Writer

Favorite bike: I know if I choose a favorite, the others will somehow find out and start getting a plethora of flats or suddenly the brakes will fail on a steep downhill.

What's in your stable? I swear I'm not a Kona rep, but... Kona King Kikapu, Kona Jake the Snake, Kona Cinder Cone

Fastest speed on a road bike? I prefer dirt....so 28 mph on singletrack

Most memorable moment on my bike:
I have far too many memorable crashes (headfirst into a tree, headfirst into the ground, landing on the end of my bars and having a purple ODI imprint bruised on my ribs), being attacked by yellow jackets after running over a hive...And then there's the nice kind of memorable like riding on the wheels of some of the fastest guys in my club (OK, it was for 5 min. and then I was dropped, but it was the BEST 5 minutes!).

Most fun ever had on a bike?
5 days spent riding and hanging out at Kingdom Trails in VT with a group of friends and a sweet condo right on the trail.

    Real name: Jenny
Where do you live? On the peninsula ... Bay Area, CA

Explanation of your handle: My lovely boy started calling me Jenny Pie when we were in the getting comfortable/getting to know you stage. I made a slight modification: 3.14 = Pi. JennyPi. It's also my teacher login name at work because my last name also starts with Pi.

    Explanation of your avatar:
Don't have one yet, but I think it's gonna be of my Schwinn cruiser with a tiny basket on the front (for the irony and comical purpose).

    Age: 23

    Occupation: Pre-K teacher

Favorite bike: Hmmm. I love the '08 Fuji Track (on 650's). Or an all white bike .......... with white deep V's Maybe a white chain.

What's in your stable? A white box car

Fastest speed on a road bike? I'm slowly working towards my first road bike, so I can;t answer this question.

Most memorable moment on my bike:
My first crash as a child, of course. Hit the breaks on a steep downhill, slid because of the dirt, leaves, and acorns, back tire came up, I flipped over the handle bars and did a nice hand and face slide on the pavement. More recently, riding with my boyfriend through the city, stopping at the top of a bridge that goes over 92 and waving at all the cars passing by. A total happy moment for the both of us.

Most fun ever had on a bike?
Has yet to come but I'm looking forward to it.

    Real name: Sandy

Where do you live? Soggy Portland

Explanation of your handle: "Echidna" is my Furnace Creek 508 totem animal.

Explanation of your avatar: It's, um, an echidna. They're spiny, reclusive, squat, have a decent power/mass ratio, and can make it in the desert without REM sleep for long periods of time. Unlike me, they also eat ants.

    Age: 44

Occupation: Bike Commuter, Fitness Training lecturer - I wear many hats.

Favorite bike: The one I'm riding.

What's in your stable? omigod. Ok. My name is Sandy, and I have a bike problem. Where's the coffee? Coming clean: a Bianchi track bike, an Ibis hardtail, a Fuji hybrid/commuter, and, well, some road bikes: a Fuji Pro, a Cannondale, a Slim Chance, and a Teesdale. I don't have to count bare frames and the mostly-Trek FrankenBike on loan to my daughter who's away at college. Right?

Fastest speed on a road bike? The best I've been able to document is 44.6 solo, "somewhere north of 50" on a tandem, at which point I stopped asking for updates.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Calvin's Challenge 2002. The weather was perfect!

Most fun ever had on a bike? Oh, so hard to pick just one! Probably riding around Crater Lake in August a few years back.

    Getting to know you...

Here it is ladies! Got this off another bike forum and had great fun! Just copy and paste then change to fit you!

    Real name: Kerry
Where do you live? Hubert, North Carolina

Explanation of your handle: Well, we were on this call (I'm a medic) and I went back out to the truck for more supplies, the owners dog blindsided me and decided to have my thigh for dinner. Now all my EMS buddies call me milk bone, and I have been given gifts of milkbones for use as a "safety device".

Explanation of your avatar: It's us kayaking on the intracoastal in NC

Age (general or specific) will be 30 soon : (

    Occupation:Paramedic

    Favorite bike: My Trek

What's in your stable? Trek WSD 4300, and soon to add a road bike

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? don't know yet

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I don't have very many pixs of myself

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: This will only hurt a little.

Most memorable moment on my bike: I guess when I first got my clip-in shoes, I couldn't get my feet out in time - so I kept falling all over the place on the trail.
Most fun ever had on a bike? Love riding and spending time with my boyfriend and kids.

    Thumbs up Hi everyone!

    Real name: Ellen
Where do you live? Oslo, Norway

    Explanation of your handle:
Well, Tigress is actually a derivate from Tigern, which is the Norwegian name for Hobbes as in Calvin & Hobbes, but Tigern or Hobbes or Tigergirl or anything similar is usually taken. However, the feminine variety of Tiger is not used in the Norwegian language, so for an anglophone like me it was natural to try that when looking for a nick for a forum registration. So that was first halv of the explanation - it's TRigress because I'm a novice triathlete...

    Explanation of your avatar:
The avatar is one of many that I have, it's a yahoo avatar, and for this forum I wanted one where I'm a training girl!

    Age:
    32 in April 2008.

    Occupation:
    Teacher (English, Norwegian and history)

    Favorite bike:
Custom made Merlin titan with Campagnolo Record and those lovely Campa high profile wheels - Bora?

    What's in your stable?
Ciöcc Morpho 2 Special Edition 2005 - tiny bright red Italian carbon beauty!
    Everest Rocky MTB 2005
    Nakamura Impact MTB/commuter 1996?

Fastest speed on a road bike?
79,6 km/h, down from Vøringsfossen and down to Eidfjord (Eidfjord is where the Norseman Extreme Triathlon starts, so I went the opposite direction). Good fun!

Another picture of yourself or your ride?
Don't have them available right now I don't think...

What is the biggest lie you've ever told:
    Don't know.

Most memorable moment on my bike:
I think that must be either my first ride on a road bike ever, or the first ride in Balsfjord, watching the snow on the mountains surrounding the Balsfjord as I was riding along.

Most fun ever had on a bike?
There's a really fun hill not far from where we live, and the first time I rode down that hill - we just call it the rollercoaster hill - now that was a blast!

I love to jam to music at all times when I can. I can't dance, but I DO jam out to music. When I workout, run, ride..."jammin'" tends to be how I feel (like I do when I play the music loud) Note: I do not ride with music ever.

41...my favorite all time DMB song #41.

    Explanation of your avatar:
I'll have to get one. It'll probably be one of my sunset shots here in AZ. My second love is photography.

Age (general or specific) 40 and lovin' it.

    Occupation: Elementary School Teacher

Favorite bike: My Cannondale Sprint. I only have one right now.

What's in your stable? But I don't have a horse...
Cannondale Sprint (bike); Nissan paid off Quest

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 35mph...downhill...Usery Pass...last fall.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I'll have to take one.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told:
Uh...when I was 7 I told my mother that my little 3 year old brother cut his own hair. It was me. His head had to be shaved. It was close to Xmas and I swore that santa would not be paying me a visit.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Finishing my first sprint tri and realizing that I beat my goal finish time on my bike by 7-8 minutes. I wasn't expecting it and it really pumped me up for my run.

Most fun ever had on a bike?
Anytime I ride downhill. What a rush!

It's nice stopping by to meet you!

    Hi fellow Norwegian!

Hello, good to see you! I have to admit that I have indeed noticed you before, being from Tiger City as well...

I'm located at Bogerud, and at the moment I do not have a club. I've just returned south from Troms, and the only time I've been in a race was Smaalenene Rundt in 2005, two weeks after getting my bike. Then I raced for OSI Sykkel. I wasn't going to ride Enebakk Rundt, having no team, and being a crap cyclist, but maybe I should? Hmmm. I'll have to see, I have exams coming up, and my major goal this season is my first ever 70.3 triathlon, Seigmann, in Stavern in July, so that has first priority!

I have to congratulate you on the choice of team, though - being from Rælingen Ceres is the local team, you know. But why Ceres when based in Groruddalen, wouldn't Nittedal or any of the Oslo teams be your local team?

Well, I went to a start-up meeting with Rye, and was a bit put off by their massive emphasis on Trondheim-Oslo. I may do T-O someday but I'm in no hurry - I only just got a road bike last summer and just want to try out a little racing without a huge commitment. I live north-east in Groruddalen, Ceres is "just around the corner", road riding is nice up thataway and I have a friend who already rides with them. So I sucked it up and went and bought one of their horrendously ugly jerseys Group training starts in a week.

I have another bike riding colleague who lives at Lambertseter. I can send you a pm if you're interested in joining us for a ride sometime.

Good luck with your triathlon! I'm much too bad a swimmer to even consider one, but my camping girlbuddy is thinking of doing her first this summer.

    hi all

    Real name: Margaret

Where do you live? western Massachusetts USA

Explanation of your handle: I'm a fiddler, of sorts

Age: b. 1940 (am I the oldest here?)

    Occupation: retired nerd

What's in your stable? Winter: a frankenbike ('95 Mongoose frame, all sorts of kludgey non-original parts). Summer: '84 Miyata mixte-frame tourer.

Fastest speed on a road bike? I try not to go fast - I'd hate to break anything important.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Don't have any

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Everything I say is a lie

Most memorable moment on my bike: That very busy moment when I was about 12 that ended with me getting my face picked clean of glass, rocks, and dirt and the hole (from the handlebar--no grips) stitched closed.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Probably the times when I've had a flat road to myself on a warm summer day and have been able to pedal serenely along enjoying the scenery rather than worrying about traffic.
