When DMV asks questions about the change in your eyesight and when and if you had lasik does that violate your hippa rights?
I had a great time mountain biking in Tahoe, and learned when going up a steep hill if you don't sit just right your bike will tip over backward. I know now and have the bruise to prove it. Saw lots and lots of road bikes but no MP. Now I am back home in the lovely 110 degree heat watching wild fires out my window. Cheers, Jones.

    jones & a long post...

Umm jones, how far away are you from the wildfire(s)??? Just want you make sure you're safe & have some things packed for an emergency exit!

Speaking of the capitalize every sentence thread, could someone assist me in locating it or should i bother? I don't pay attention to many of the main threads you see...

Hey if you want to find Mr Thorpie, he has a house in Los Angeles i believe...

For some cute Ozzie/kiwi guys, look up :
Matt Rogers (he;s a wallaby & a warratah) Daniel carter (an all black & a crusader), ruben thorne, richie mccaw(same as dc). Then Justin Marshall & taine randall(kiwis playing in the european league). (They're rugby players).
Oh wait...-douggie howlett (he plays for the blues), byron kelleher & jono gibbes-play for the chiefs-a mooloo man)

    blues site-www.theblues.co.nz
    the chiefs-www.chiefs.co.nz
or for all the cute guys you want www.planet-rugby.com

For a more muscular man, what about Temuera Morrison (a kiwi actor).....I loved his role in Once were warriors...I know i've mentioned this movie a few times but it's a film one can't miss in thier lifetime...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110729...

Apparently, according to an animal rescuer on my Desert Tortoise list, the fires are VERY bad. Most of the people on the list are out west. She said, if "they" tell you to evacuate, GO NOW, they really aren't kidding. She said there were all kinds of animals running all over the place, but the fires are so bad they won't let rescuers in yet. Poor little (and big) guys.

The wildfires are way up in the hills and I live in the depths of well it uh, rhymes with well, AKA central Palm Springs. So that would be about 20 miles or so. The fires are North of me and the wind is blowing North/East so I can see the fires but can't smell them. Las Vegas is at least a 3.5 hour drive and they are getting all the smoke. Thanks for being concerned but I am totally safe. Jones

The areas the fires are in are mostly small ranches/horse property. There are several places to go with your animals for emergency boarding for horses, etc.
I know that last year when the fires started they turned out some horses as a last resort and the horses ended up fine.
The local small zoo has desert tortoise adoptions every fall. I sometimes think about getting one but 100 years of tortoise care is a little daunting.
This was my 5th post today a new PB.

Jones, glad to hear you're in relative safety. Sorry to hear the fires are burning out there.

The look on the woman's face at the DMV was great. I've always had that vision restriction on my license. I imagine their job is pretty rote. My "no" to the contacts question really threw her.

CC, thanks for the suggestions on good looking Aussies. It took me a minute to realize you were talking about their team affiliations ("he's a Wallaby"). I thought, "wallaby? That's an animal!" I have strict rules about dating outside my species, you see.

Lise, when I went from restrictions to no restrictions, they just retested my vision, and that was it.

I am not sure how to provide for future care for my DTs in my elderly years- I guess before the time comes I will have to send them out west. I will make sure my family knows how to contact the DT organizations to arrange adoptions.

Come to think of it, they re-tested my vision. It was such a basic test--essentially, "can you see?", that I forgot about it! Of course, in the past, without my lenses, I wouldn't even have been able to see the letters, much less read them. Lasik is a modern miracle.

Morning everyone. I am feeling sleep deprived. I go to bed way too late every night despite saying that I won't (last night it was wine and hot tubbing under a full moon past midnight). Then Erik turns on the TV to watch the TDF as soon as he wakes up (this morning it was 6:30, thankfully not 4:30) so I watch a bit and doze a bit until the last 2 km when he makes sure I'm awake to watch them come in. Then I go back to sleep for about half an hour until Jesse bangs on my door to say "Get up mom, it's 9:00!"... So I get up and sit here reading Thread Drift while he gets to sleep some more...

Lasik - I have really bad eyes too. -10 or -11 I think. I haven't worn contacts since I was single (the first time) about 24 years ago. Maybe I should get some and wear them for awhile to see if can get used to being without glasses.

Wildfires - Aaack. Too scary. We had a big one here in Kelowna 3 years ago and we were evacuated for a week. My mom's house (and about 250 others houses) burned down.

Lise - here's a guy for you. He PM'd me on my diet website at Sparkpeople.... Since I do already have a significant other, and he's apparently looking for a girl who rides a bike, you can have him. I know you'll thank me. I guess I could take it as a compliment at my age but.... ugh....

its great to see u in this picture, nice body, beautiful lady ride a nice bike
i like cycling too, i like u cous u love to ride too
i hope u get ur goal soon.
    take care of urself

Nanci will be proud of me - I stopped and turned around to shoo a snake off the bike trail yesterday - after narrowly missing decapitating the little guy. I don't know my snakes, but he/she was black with a yellow stripe down the side. Probably garden variety garter snake?

kg, thanks so much. I got several similar emails when on match.com. The strangest (so far) was the guy from Wichita, KS, who would very much like to meet me when he returned from Africa, where he would be settling his dead wife's affairs. He felt I would be an excellent mother to his 9 year old daughter. Also, I was very pretty. Which, of course, just sealed the deal for me.

My eyes were in the -10 range. Now, it's as if I'd had perfect vision all my life. Open my eyes in the middle of the night and see everything perfectly? Of course! The only thing that hasn't changed is that momentary anxiety when I leave on a trip. Do I have my glasses? Then I remember that I don't wear glasses anymore, and we're off.

FishJr went in for her last set of shots this morning. She was doing great right up until the 1st of 3 needles went in. I honestly have never heard her scream like that! It was so sad. She was crying so badly. I had told her we would go for a lemon-berry slush afterwards and told her to focus on that. Afterwards I asked her if she thought about the slush and she said she couldn't. Poor thing! Then as we were walking out, she said that the cotton balls on her arms felt like she was wearing kneepads on her arms. Gotta love her!

Awww.... poor thing. How old is she? When our kids gets shots here, they put everything into one syringe and they only have to get one needle.

Related story about my now 22 yo daughter - she hated needles when she was little. Had to hold her down for every one of them. Got called by the school when she was 12 to come and hold her down. Fast forward a few years - she pierced her own ears, got her belly button pierced, and has the depo shot on a regular basis. I'm sure a tattoo is next...

    KG - she's 4.

Lise - these were her last shots before school. She starts in a couple of weeks (Aug 14). She's done for now, TG!

Her arms were red where they gave her the shots. It was tough to watch. You should have seen the looks we got as we came back out into the lobby. They were all smiling at her. She was already recovered by the time I left. I bet she'll take a nice long nap today.
