    Holly

So as long as I don't fly into it, I'm ok :-)

I was thinking, though, I go barefoot all the time- the leaves would probably suck to step on. In fact I know they do becuase I've stepped on them in other places.

Hmmm. I'm done with wimpy citrus, that's for sure. A little too cold where I am.

Just don't plant a fig. Well, if you plant a fig, don't ever cut it down (especially with a chainsaw).

We had a couple of holly trees (not with the major pricky leaves - only slightly pricky) at our previous house. They weren't too bad. Of course, I have never crashed into them. The birds love the berries which is a good thing. Every year we would get a flock of migrating cedar waxwings (one of my favorite birds) that would come through and clean the entire tree of berries in one day. It was impressive to watch!

I thought about getting the lenses that change with the light, but was afraid they wouldn't get dark enough for mid-day sun down here. I'm sure they would, but I also didn't want to pay the extra cost.

What did you ever do with the wacky birkenstock clogs?

Yeah, click on color 75 to see them. I have gotten so many compliments on them! Very good price.

Those are super cute! They look comfy. I haven't ventured into clogs yet. I pretty much wear tennis shoes to work every day. Maybe I'll try some clogs. I always think they'll make me scuff my feet. That's based on absolutely nothing, of course.

I wonder how Knotted's day is going at work?

Lise - glad to hear you got a good bill of health (on all levels). I really think that crocheted shirt needs to be your date shirt.

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words about men. What a strange trip it's been this year. I know some really fine guys (some of my best friends, etc). I know some of you have really fine guys in your life. My brother is a really fine guy. I just haven't met the one who fits with me yet. You are all invited to the party when I do!

Yep, 9# 7oz, no tears, and, in fact, delivered in triage (the admitting area), because no time to get on the elevator and go up to L&D! A nice birth. The next lady had a 6# 8oz girl in our alternative birth center. Also a lovely birth. July is always a busy month, but I'm staying over my shift because we have another lady soon to deliver, and *8* women on the mother-baby unit to see! Baby Boom!

I love the image of the cedar waxwings cleaning the berries off the holly tree.

Was that her first? I'm impressed with the no tears! I can't imagine pushing out a baby that big. Fishfry was 9lbs and the amount of tearing I had with him (forceps were involved which I'm sure made it worse) was bad. Many many stitches. Very glad that epidurals were invented!

It must feel so good to bring new babies into the world!

Why would you cry when you were having a baby, except at the end in relief that it was normal, and over- kind of like the end of your first marathon!!

Fish- Birks are for STANDING. They have jute twine inside them, which molds to your feet. They are so comfortable! They are the only shoes I wear (I wear the Florida sandals when I am not at work, and sometimes at work when they match my outfit) ever. Well, I have some Doc Martens, also very comfortble. So Birks 98%, Docs 2%. They never fall off. But they make a kind with a little heel strap for people who worry about that.

I'm off for Springfield, MO and my silly games. I have a Ravenswood Zin and a Hess Chardonnay for the 1st place team. Scharffen Berger chocolate for 2nd place. Jelly Bellies for everyone else. You suppose that will get them to remember I'm in California and not Phoenix with the rest of my business unit?

Since these prizes all have to go in carry-on, the first employee who makes some wise *** remark about the amount of my luggage is disqualified.

Mmm, Ravenswood. Of course, how could I not like it, considering their logo?

    EDMONTON - Crazy Canuck

    Hey CC,

We had a great trip. Took our bikes so didn't have to rent but it was hot, hot, hot for Edmonton. Around 34-35 degrees and nobody around there has a/c Unfortunately, because of the kind of trip it was - visiting Erik's family - we couldn't do much biking. Did one 30 km ride in Spruce Grove when we were at his brother's place but that's it. I really wanted to go to the river valley but just didn't have time. No one seemed to understand that I needed to go there to take pictures for a girl I don't know in Australia... ha ha....

Yes, I have to admit we went to WEM but only because I brought my 8 year old son with us and I had promised to take him to the Wave Park. Holy $#!% it costs $30 each to get in there!! Cheap me - we ended up going back in the evening when we could get in for only $20 each... It was actually pretty fun but I hated the mall part. 500+ stores and every one is a clothing store for skinny teenagers... I think that's the last time I'll ever have the urge to go there...

So I'm home now, sitting up on my deck, drinking coffee and surfing on my daughter's laptop. Trying to figure out how I can go out riding right now since Jesse's home.... Maybe Grandma will watch him....

    later,
    barb

Lise, don't you love the Spanish term for giving birth - "dar a luz"?

    graphics... argh...

I'm really not technologically challenged but for the life of me, I can't seem to get a digital pic of me down to under 10 kb size. I have dropped the resolution down to the crappiest possible, and changed the size to 75X60 pixels and it's still too big. I am using Photoshop 6. How do you guys get your avatar pics to be so clear and big and yet stay within the guidelines of 100X100 or under 10 kb???

Nanci - I read it as tears, like the kind that need stitches Or maybe crying tears from tearing. I don't know?? All I know is that a 9#7oz baby has got to hurt!

kelownagirl - I usually just change the image size and then save it as whatever quality will get me in the file size range.
