Well! I'd definitely enter a tri if I had the chance to compete as a member of Team Thread Drift!!!

    Good luck Lise.

C'mon, guys...Compared to DirtDiva, Running Mommy is much closer to Chicago, and the UK is waaaay closer to Chicago than NZ! So the both of you are already half-way here! (I have the ability to rationalize anything)

I'm going down to swim in the lake today, but I've decided not to do it in my full wetsuit. It's pretty hot here, the water where I'll swim is fairly shallow, and I'm afraid I'll overheat. So I'll swim in my tri suit and shorty wetsuit, as I ususally do. I may not use that full wetsuit I bought in any race this year. I really bought it for the 1/2 IM next year, where I'll swim in the lake, but on the Michigan side. I'll take both suits up to Wisconsin for Pleasant Prairie, and check out the lake the day before the tri. "The lake" for that race is not Lake Michigan, but an inland, spring-fed lake. I've heard various reports of how "cold" it is, ranging from "very" to "not at all". I'll judge for myself that weekend!

Lise, it is the same place the danskin tri was held and there is no way you need a wetsuit for it. i would say few than 10%, maybe even fewer than 5% of the participants in the danskin tri wore wetsuits. the water was as warm as our local pool.

Thank you so much for that info. I'm not even going to worry about it, then. I'll do what I usually do, swim in my tri shorts and sport bra under my sleeveless, short-legged "wetsuit". It really serves more as a coverup for my sports bra.

I don't like competing in just the bra and full trisuit when it's hot out. I'm not comfortable being seen in such form-fitting clothes; in the May tri, when I had to wear the tri suit cuz it was a pool swim, I pulled a shirt over for the bike and run. But it's unlikely I'll want to compete in a lycra onesie and t-shirt in August in Wisconsin!
