I don't think you will be the last... pretty much with all the hills and the heat, that will be me. My only hope is I can catch you all on the downhills.

I haven't been doing all the long rides you guys have. This will be my longest ride all year. Yesterday I planned on doing my Club's 58 miler but I've had a cold all week, didn't feel all that well and well the humidity was already affecting me so I opted for the short ride - 40 miles going to Huntington Beach. I thought good a short, flat ride, I'll be fine but problem with flat - the speed picks up. I rode with 2 friends and our average speed to Golden West (down PCH) was 23.5 mph! I felt good until we hit GW then all of a sudden, I cracked! Big time. Made it to the coffee shop and sat and waited out some thunder and rain and took off back home. At this point, I was toast and it was a struggle to get back to my car. I haven't felt this bad I think ever on a ride. The humidity, heat and my cold did me in. I laid on the grass for 2 hours, drinking Gatorade and trying to get rid of my headache. I was very dyhrated. All I wanted to do was go home, take a shower and lay down in the air conditioning but nooooo.... the lightning struck a transformer and I had no electricity. It wasn't a good day for me.

Anyway, Sunday I plan on riding easy - just want to get through the mileage and stay on the bike. If it's hot, need to take it easy. Wish me luck!
